Hey im having a problem when i try to accelerate it just wont go like revs drop and engine splutters. This only happens when i push the accelerator past a certain point which isnt too far down so takes me like 20 seconds to get to 60ks!Anybody help iv checked spark plugs and stuff and its not the fuel pump could it possibly be a problem with the computer?

When was it last serviced and what was happening before this problem started
I would try to clean out your fuel filter first see if there is any muck in it
next
I would be thinking it might be something at the throttle body
can you look at the accelerator cable for slack
If you have the skills test the sensors at the throttle body with an amp meter

other members will chip in with ideas now :D

It had its 100 000km service like 6 months ago all the filters n stuff were changed over and the accelerator cable is fine coz iv just been accelerating the engine with the cord when my heads in there tryin to figure out what the hell it is!!! and MR Bishi what is that sensor u were talkin about?

dont disconnect the battery! it will reset the ECU and any probs you have had with your car will be erased!

get it checked out 1st, you can do it yourself with the right equipment but i havent looked into where i can get the right cabling for the ECU error reporting yet.

if there is something wrong with any of the sensors, then the ECU will log that problem, and when you get it checked out, the ECU will tell you exactly whats not working properly. this gives you the starting point to fix whats wrong.

if there is no problem with the ECU then i would then think it could be a problem with the fuel flow, which means dirt in tank, fuel pump, fuel rail and injectors. Loss in vaccuum, but with a recent 100,000km service, you should have new air/fuel/oil filters, and all hoses checked. sounds like either a fuel or air shortage... or the accelerator is screwed?

edit: from what i can gather the ECU test connecter is below the dash near the centre of the steering wheel, and if you ground pin 1 which is on the very left of the plug on the far row you can get the error messages.

Does it only splutter when your applying throttle? Or does the spluttering continue once you have let off (or even while idling?)

It only splutters when im trying to accelerate like i can accelerate slowly and it will go fine but when i push it past a certain point it just goes oh crap and splutters and ****s around because its getting flooded with too much fuel!

leads and plugs? i had this sort of problem in my old mitsi rvr.. i put the foot down and it would die then go then die then eventually go.. it ended up bein the leads and plugs

And it doesnt die then go ive gotta back off the accelerator to behind the point where it messes up before i can get it acceleratin more!

I was hoping the leads and plugs would have been replaced at the 100,000 km service

yea leads well thats easy go out at night lift the bonnet start up the car and see if the leads give you a christmas tree for fire craker show in the dark has to be dark and check the dissy cap and coil while shes running
And tried that it was sparkin kinda ****ty so had all the ignition leads replaced with high performance ones its sparkin awsomely but still runnin ****house!

The best thing i can figure after all ive done and mechanics testing and by mitsu hooking up the computer is that its a problem with the computer!Thats the most likely thing anyways because when it goes to accelerate the timing for the injectors is way off and its just putting in way 2 much fuel so it floods it and wont let me accelerate!I have to wait until monday before i can get a propper check at mitsu, but still pretty sure its the comp and it can either be sent away and maybe get fixed and if they cant fix it im going to need a new computer system which means i also need a new immobiliser so a hell of a lot of money!I figure itl probably cost me just as much to get an entirely new high performance standalone engine manegment system and an aftermarket imobiliser running off it?Anybody have any suggestions to good aftermarket computers?

And yeh it is possible that it might be that but pretty unlikely since just had a good 1 put in like 2 months ago and it seems to be sparking fine just the timing aint right?

well thats a bugger

a new computer it is or repair the one you have ?
no point getting one off a wrecker is there ? might be just as bad:nuts:

Yeh well if this one can be repaired and it aint gonna cost a tonne il do that but im far better off getting a good performance computer system then just putting in 1 from a wrecker coz itl still cost a lot from a wrecker and if i get a new 1 i can atleast put that on my insurance so if the car gets written off il get that money back

i had a problem like this in my GEN1 awhile back when i was playing with the air filter i ended up partially disconnected the air flow sensor it would start and run but if put the boot in it just coughed and splutted, and it was really hard to keep it at 100km/h worked it out later when i checked the ecu for errors
