Hi all , I have a 91 KR verada , I've been chasing a few problems with it and it now seems to be a ECU problem anyway last night i parked it no problems ,running fine , go out this morning it wont start ! anyway couldn't hear the fuel pump running? and then some 5 mins later it starts to work? This has been tested at Mitsubishi and found to be fine . Anyway my question is ...dose the ECU control the fuel pump? " as in turn it on/off" thanks :doubt:
fuel pump comes on with the ignition its live straight through because its electric
Actually, the fuel pump is triggered by the ECU, and is only turned on when the engine is actually running.
also might be low voltage on your battery how old is the battery ?
A low battery voltage will certainly cause the ECU to shutdown the engine (or just fail to start the engine).
Does the engine crank, but never fire?
You might also want to check the connection between the immobiliser control unit and the ECU. I had intermittent problems with my TJ for a couple of years before tracking down the cause.....see this thread (http://www.aussiemagna.com/forums/showthread.php?p=469533&posted=1#post469533) for details.
Cheers,
Martin.

Hmmm interesting ! I thought as much , no the engine fired everytime but just stalled ,as it turns out i've ordered a Rcon ECU and ICS as Mitsubishi has tested and tested everything to bits ! and the TPS is still getting high voltage readings, the engine idle changes 100-150 rpm ,the car surges while driving and 5 out of 7 starts in the mornings it will idle at 1700 rpm instead of the normal 1200 rpm .So after spending $600 on testing and a dissy cap and leads time to spend that again on ECU etc. I think i own the most expensive KR Verada in Australia now !!

most fuel injected motors have a tachometric relay
it has a 5 seconds of on when first powered then turns off
then if a crank siginal is picked up through the ecu it will turn the relay back on
this is a safty device so if in a acco and the motor stops the fuel pump shuts down
if it allways had power with key on and in a acco and the fuel line got a leak the pump would keep pumping fuel (BOOM)

Sounds like the ISC to me.

Nar been down that road, anyway thought you may want to know i fitted the recond ECU and and recond ICS "which they recondmended" as they short out and burn the ECU. First thought was "hell yeah !!" it must have been on the way out since i bought the car 2 yrs ago as it has never been so quick and smoove to drive ! its a compleatly different car now , now i know why i got it for $2000 2 yrs ago  ! So yeah it was the ECU all the time , now im a happy Mitsubishi owner :bowrofl:
