I'm installing a cdplayer and rear spearkers in my GF's car, I was reading the guide and got the old speakers out, looked and there's a bracket for the 6"s and I'm wondering

- Do I need to remove seats and carpet?
- Is there an easier way around this?
- Where are the bolts for the seats? (I'm having trouble locating them as I don't have a manual to work with)

I like my 3rd Gen, much easier to work with for me :), although HU is easier to install and get to in TR/S

I also did a search and couldn't find anything relating to this

seats r a piece of p**s to get out

2 clips on the bottom of the seat, pull these up and the bottom seat should spring up, take this out.

the back part of the seat is a little fiddlier...there should be 5 nuts holding it down...all you can see, and are on the bottom

once these 5 nuts have been taken out, PUSH the back seat up, as its "hooked" in

you really have to give this a push up, it should pop out 3 times (3 hooks) then just take that out and you have full access....

was that clear at all? sorry im just typing it as i did it yesterday

btw, its easier to have the seats out, i didnt and took me AGGGEESS to get the cables through (+ a sore arm afterwards)

of course, you can just unclip the bottom seat and force the wires under the back seat, but that is hard, and hurts!

Removing the back seat is exactly the same as removing it in the TJ.

Pull the tabs on the bottom seat and remove.
There is 5 bolts to remove to get the back part of the seat out.
2x 10mm and 3x12mm (cant remember exact size sorry)

the 2x 10mm are located on each side of the seat and the 3x12mm bolts are located under the back seat where the bottom slides in, undo them. When pulling the seat out, push up first as the back seat is hooked in.

Then its a simple 3 screws holding in the rear parcel shelf carpet.

Im currently in the middle of a how-to for a stereo, speaker removal/install for the 2nd gens.

FYI I did require the seats to be removed as there was a metal plate bolted onto the panels. I could not access the bolts without removing the parcel shelf, will take photos of plates, I believe they may have been placed in as aftermarket cheap speakers for rear fill but I'm not sure. Anyway 6x9's have been successfully installed along with the head unit ^_^

All it needs now is subs and 6" in the front with Jaycar splits :P

Depends on how nice my GF is to me ^_^

(stereo_god's brother did the jaycar splits so I'm stealing his idea :P)

And also when I get money to buy new fronts for her. Might go crazy and upgrade 4", install 6" and install tweeters :P

magnarama they are
pioneer 4" front speakers http://www.pioneer.com.au/car_entertainment/speakers/tse1076/index.html

with 1" jaycar super tweeters http://www.jaycar.com.au/productView.asp?ID=CS2210&CATID=15&keywords=&SPECIAL=&form=CAT&ProdCodeOnly=&Keyword1=&Keyword2=&pageNumber=&priceMin=&priceMax=&SUBCATID=318

also installed was the crossover box http://www.jaycar.com.au/productView.asp?ID=CX2640&CATID=15&keywords=&SPECIAL=&form=CAT&ProdCodeOnly=&Keyword1=&Keyword2=&pageNumber=&priceMin=&priceMax=&SUBCATID=534

note: tweeters on front channel on head unit, rear channels off headunit run 4 inches and then the amp running on rear rcas run the rear 6x9's. 125 hz high pass on all speakers.

if you require any more info or want pics pm me.

p.s the reason the sony speakers "sound" as "good" as the jl audios is because the speakers are only getting bout 15-20 wrms if that. meanwhile your jls are getting up to 60wrms. the sonys are rated at bout 40wrms but i wouldnt even run them off a headunit as they will clip and be destroyed.

ps everyone check your gains as if their too high your speakers will sound harsh this is clipping. this is very bad. your gains are a percentage amplifier.

these speakers dont fit the 2nd gen magna dash holes, well not without cutting the little plastic guard, i dont trust myself with a knife so im justing changing my front channels to the doors and installing 6.5" cadence splits rated at 150w rms.
