At this stage you'd probably have to import it from the US. It would either be from a crashed up Galant or if your lucky enough a crashed up Eclipse, lucky as in the Eclipse has the MIVEC 3.8. I doubt Mitsubishi would sell one cheap if you really wanted one and if you were that desperate you'd probably be looking at $6 - $7k. Just wait till you find a smashed up 380 (rear end) and see how much it goes for, if its cheap then maybe its your way of getting an engine.

I think your better off sourcing a 3.5lt Ralliart spec engine. Or dropping a 3.5lt engine in with RPW cams.

I cant see why youd want a 380 engine in a TE, especially when the ralliart spec engine is just so damn good anyway.

I agree. If your willing to put a different engine in your car that is hard to locate you may aswell get a car (a Mitsubishi that is) that has the power your after. In this case a Ralliart is more powerful then the 380 by 5kw. A Ralliart engine would be hard to aquire so you'd be better off buying one, by the way there only like ~$20k now.

Or pay another $12k (above the $20k that is) and get a pratically new 380VRX which looks better and has a less cluttered dash.

Mind you though, in about 12 months a Ralliart at $20k probably will only depreciate a further $5k at most. A 380VRX at $32k probably wouldn't depreciate that much either as you've already got it like $9k cheaper then what it should be (auto, onroads, etc.). The Ralliart is a rare car and mitsubishi lovers will always spot you when your driving one.

The 380 engines are manufactured in the MMC plant in Kyoto, Japan. MMC don't send the 380 engine to the USA.

I was referring to getting a 3.8 V6 engine from a smashed up US Galant. I don't think Mitsubishi Japan has a vehicle with engines tuned the same way as the Galant/380 in any of their vehicles. I think the Pajero GDI's power output is similar but not the same and plus it would probably have to be changed to fit a sedan let alone fit.

And the reason I suggested the US as an import destination over Japan is that a brand new engine of this type would be very expensive to import from Japan so getting one out of a smashed up Galant or Eclipse would be more cost effective.

it can be done, but by the time you have done it, you would have been much better off either modding your existing engine, or getting an old 3.5ltr motor from the wreckers and rebuilding it with some performance parts
