Does anyone have a rough idea as to how much power/torque you can reach before you get excessive torque steer in our cars?

Having an auto is also limiting with the single spinner. I tell you what, she doesn't like to tow the boat thats for sure.

It'd depend on your suspension setup and tyres.

A firm setup, with a strut brace and sway bars, with large wide tyres, should hold the car straight.

I've got no experience in this area, but I'd say you'd be looking at around 300Kw/450nM before you start to turn sideways.

I'm pretty sure that the 30M's have a rudimentary form of traction control which limits the engine's torque output when wheel slippage occurs. All it does is lower the amout of fuel injected into the motor. It's a very average setup but i would have thought that it would limit or stop any torque steer from happening

I thought it brakes first and then if that isn't enough then it cuts power.

Anyway, I just want to make sure that I don't go over board with power mods to the point where you have to always have TCl on. Currently I never use it.

I'm pretty sure that the TCL system on the Aus magnas just drops the engine power and doesn't use the brakes. The diamantes may use a more sophisticated TCL though. I would have thought though that most simple mods wouldn't effect cause it to come on though. If you did find it coming on often you could always fit a piggy back ecu :D

ive got 8" wide tyres on mine and i have noticed that it does pull to the right a bit now on acceleration. no major power up grades.

i had this commo try to drag me from a set of lights... i did only go to the speed limit (70) coz it was a sat night down the coast... so cops woulda been lookin for racers.. but i got major tourque steer shiftin from second to 3rd at about 5k... which kinda distracted me and scared **** outta the missus:badgrin: ... but it was all good! btw.. i hate torque steer:rant:
