Is it possible for springs to lose thier springyness?

The reason I ask is that riding in my KR wagon is like riding in a vibrator. I feel every little bump and line in the road. I've had front and rear shocks replaced, and it's still awful to drive. Going over a speed bump feels like you're landing a 747. I've tried running lower tyre pressures, to no avail. The mechanic says everything's fine.

Anyone got any suggestions?

Thanks,

Andy

Do you have lowered springs?

best mental picture evar!!

I'm assuming he's a male.

So you like your mental image of him with a vibrator up the clacker?

bob_saget, that's wrong. Very wrong.

TL-R - It's not lowered, but as far as I can tell it's still got the factory springs, at 285,000k.

It corners like a monster, but driving on Sydney roads is killing me. It rides slightly better on 16s, but if you hit a bad strip of tarmac it's like going to physiotherapy.

The answer to your question is yes - springs can lose their 'springyness'.

If they are the original ones, then they are 14 years old. Get them replaced.
