I'm up for a replacement front Driver's power window regulator assembly (the glass began slowing down lately, then made a grinding noise before finally stopping altogether in the closed position. The motor does not even budge now).

Quote for new genuine is $413.00 + GST for replacement part which I would fit myself.

Has anyone else done this job before and can recommend a cheaper source for parts? Either second hand/reco or aftermarket substitute. I'm located East suburbs Melbourne, or can visit any inner city locations during work break.

Thanks! :)

with the 3rd gen power window regualrors, the main problem was the cables fraying, then eventually breaking! ive never heard of reco units or aftermarket ones.. i'd say reconditioning it would be almost impossible due to the set up! u could try a wrecker like mentioned, and hope that it's a good one.. try and get the latest model regulator, as it'd be the better one!
it's quite a job for the not so mechanically minded people!

Thanks I found one for $110 at Imlachs wreckers with 6months warranty. A mate who's done the job before said it's only about 15-20mins to change over once you have door trims off, which I have done over a dozen times. Only pain is now I have to reapply sound deadening to the whole door!
