View Full Version : Is there a clock in the TE 1996?
Hi guys, I just recently bought a Magna Te and it seems as though the top center console is always blank when the car is switched on. However, when I have the car on ACC I do see the battery light and the oil light lit if memory serves me well.
Im asking to check if there are suppose to be a digital clock at the top center console or is it located on the instrument cluster. The car was busted in by some idiots from the previous owner who tried to steal the head unit so just wondering did it effect the top console by any chance cause they used a screw driver trying to pull the head unit out.
Thanks everyone.

unless it is a verada.. the only clock in there will be the one on the stock head unit.
on the verada it is in the trip comp above the air vents

i have a 96 TE and spent some time looking for the clock.
the panel up the top of the console is meant to be your speed alert. i pulled my dash apart to install a head unit (with a clock!) and it stopped working. never was bothered to fix it.. i can live without the beep when i pass 110km/h

i think items like the speed alert are optionals on the stock early 3rd gens (execs like mine) dont know about the sports model and as choonga mentioned, the verada model has one. The clock was on the stock radio, so if you dont have a head unit with a clock, you dont have a clock
haha nah, nothing is supposed to be there. The only thing that ever pops up there is if your fuel is emptyish. Iwas the same.. waited a full year to see the fuel thing pop up :P
Oh damn...
Thanks for the quick responses guys... I ain't gonna bother with the speed alerter as the cops will let me know anyway.:D
Saves me time to trying fix something thats not even there!
Appreciate all your help!

why, why do mitsi not put clocks in thier cars.. i dont know about the 380.. but i would say its on the streo unit too.. silly i think:nuts:
Ive got a TE Altera, and it didnt come with a clock.
With the 380's the clock is up top in the middle (no where near the headunit) plus the headunit is a "built in" to the dash, so no way of getting a aftermarket one.

well that sux.. its like my old mans soarer.. all the controlls for the air con.. trip meter etc are all built in.. so its a real pain in the butt there
