hey guys, clutch is playing up. SLipping in a few gears etc. Been quoted $750 to replace with pressure plates etc. apparently magna clutches are really expensive. does this sound right?
cheers

does that quote include labour?, if so sounds about right
A standard clutch kit will set u back around 500, where as a heavy duty kit will be about 750

yeah, if 750 includes labour then it's not too bad, cheap really.
i paid 950 incl labour for mine recenlty.
You might want to let the mecchanic know to check on the clutch release fork pivot point while he has the gearbox out, because a couple of members including me have had the clutch replaced only to find the fork pivot point is worn as well, and causes problems with the new clutch failing to disengage from time to time.
and also, it's the 3rd gen magnas that are much more expensive because they are the pull-type clutches as opposed to the previous ones, and this means they have a higher load bearing capability, but are also more expensive for the kit, and also the fitting requires someone who knows what they are doing as well.
good luck. there is a thead about this started by me not so long ago as well.

There is a million differant clutches for these.. they did a change every 12months so do research on it first with the clutch shop..
Most clutch shops have wron ginfo and will tell you they is only one clutch to fit a magna TE-TJ.. they say they are all the same.. there is actually 8 differant clutchs if you ring mits..
It all got to hard for me so i just gave mits my chassis number and got a stock one as i knew it would be right..:D That cost me nearly $500

i think theres a few part numbers for 3.5L clutches but they will all fit
few people on here have the Xtreme Heavy Duty Ceramic, very expensive (about $950 plus fitting i think) but apparently worth it (if you want something other than stock)
