I have a 1x12" 1000w Pioneer sub and a pair of 200w Xplod 6x9's in the rear and i was just wondering what amp would be good to power them both off? They are being powered at the moment but no where near to their potential (i got screwed over by Strathfield... DAMN THEM:rant: ). I can't afford to get a new amp and get it installed now but i just wanted to know roughly what $$'s i'd be looking at for an amp which would power them both successfully? Any idea guys?

A good 4 Channel Amp would prob set you back about $300 - $400.
But if that Sub can seriously handle that sort of power, you may need to opt for something more powerful. What specs do u have on the sub? or a model number?
Also consider the box for your sub? Fully sealed or ported? This will have an affect too? Is it a pre-fabricated box that came with the sub?
(Sorry about all the questions)
Where do u live? I'd be appy to install the new amp for you? If you already got a cheap and nasty one in there, it'd be an easy swap (Considering there was good wiring laid the first time).
Done soooo many in my time.
Let me know.

At the moment i have the sub the 6x9's and splits in the front all running off a 6 channel 560w (i think) JBL Amp and my sub just doesn't seem to be pumping out as much bass as i thought it would. It wasn't a cheap sub or amp either. The front splits seem to be pumping out all the sound mostly!
I live in Cranebrook which is about 5mins from Penrith.
Grrrr....im trying to find a link to the Sub i have but i can't seem to find the Pioneer website which has all the Subs in it. I googled pioneer subs and keep getting audio places that have pioneer stuff. Not all the shops had this Pioneer sub. Does anyone know Pioneers offical site?
Thanx for your help honky tonk.
*edit* this is the only pic i can find of it soo far (below)

yea pthats the same as mine, yea its 400rws
well the best way to get the subpumping harder is get a whole new amp for it,
keep the jbl amp for the speakers
depending on your deck, you might need a new one with 3 preouts to run 2 amps of it
cause i'm looking at getting a better amp for it myself
right after i drop my car

What amp would u reccomend for the sub?
The bass is actually pretty good when the volume is turned up loud. But when its down to a normal volume (normal = not loud and not soft, inbetween) u can hardly hear any bass.

have you got a pic of the controls on the amp?
you might just have to tweak it a little

There are 2 screws for each thing....one says front another says rear and the 3rd one says sub. I got a girl that i work with boyfriend to have a look and he screwed them right down for max power and unscrewed it to see if the power in the sub went down but it just stayed the same screwed in or out. I dunno what the hells is going on with it? Im never going back to Strathfield!
i was looking through the controls in the HU to see if i could put the bass up but the Sub Out said "High +12". I could turn it down low and medium but they all sounded the same. There is also another section in the HU where u can select where u want more power to come from. It has a + (bigger) and has a dot and u put it to the left or to the right and up (front) and down (rear & sub) on the + but if i put it more to the back i lose most of the treble from the front splits. i like my old panasonic HU in my Pulsar. It had a part in it where u could put the Treble -6 to +6 and Bass -6 to +6 so i had them both +6 and it sounded awesome.

well from readinf opinions on here, if you're on a budget and want some good power for your sub. jaycar monoblocks are ment to be good bang for ya buck. A monoblock will def dif you the back shattering bass i think you're after ;) then get a good 4ch amp and you're set.
This is the Aus pioneer site, car audio:

The Audison SRx3 was developed for this exact situation. ;)

so audison are decent quailty?
so for his purpose, would it be better to get a mono block or a good 2 channel?

Marty has spoken - the SRx3 is probably your best bet.
The fact that they are awesomely good - not just reasonable quality - should clinch it.
They are also a bit more expensive than what you might think, but they are SO VERY WORTH IT!!!
Marty has prices on his website.

Thanx to everyone....i'll have to save my money now and work out what i'll do. I could get it fixed now but i have to save for my Gold Coast holiday but once that money is saved i'll get my audio fixed up.

Did you build the box, or is it a pre-fabricated one?
sealed? Ported?
