.... for the new Jaycar Catalog!

Lots of new and improved car audio goodies for you.

NOTE: Information provided as a service to AMC members only

Number 1 on the interest rank is the new 1500W@1ohm MONOBLOCK!
Now I can't comment on the SQ or build quality, but the best thing about these brutes is that they are LINKABLE, running two amps in parallel will produce 3000WRMS@2ohms!!!!!!
Full specs as follows:
Power @ 4ohm, 14.4V : 800WRMS; Power @ 2ohm, 14.4V : 1000WRMS; Power @ 1ohm, 14.4V : 1500WRMS
LPF: 35-350Hz@24dB/oct; SSF: 10-60Hz@24dB/oct
Bass Boost: 0-18dB@45Hz; Efficiency: 88% 100Hz@4ohm
Dimensions: 434Lx258wX50d (mm)
Cat: AA0429, Qty 1 = $699ea, 2+ = $629ea, 5+ = $559ea
I feel a group buy coming on!

Also new: Response Amp Heatsink Link Module. Shaped like the amps, this heatsink extension can be used to hide wiring (on either end), or even link two amps together (or more amps with more modules) into one seamless install.
Cat: AA-0427; 1+ = $24.95ea, 4+ = $22.35ea, 10+ = $19.70ea

There is another new amp, the "4x100WRMS Full Range Digital Car Amplifier" (Cat AA-0425) is a FULLY DIGITAL amp in a more compact Chassis that the original 4x100. Notable drawbacks is that it is more expensive (1 = $399ea, 2+ = $359ea, 10+ = $319), signal to noise is >70dB (the original is >90dB), and power is not as great as it's bigger brother. It is 110mm shorter, which means it fits in alot more places (under front seat), and only draws 50A while pushing out 4x150WRMS@2ohms.

The full Response amp range as follows: (prices for a single amp)
2x80WRMS: (14.4V) 2X80WRMS@4ohms/1x200WRMS@4ohms - $170
4x50WRMS: (14.4V) 2X50WRMS@4ohms/2x160WRMS@4ohms - $200
2x150WRMS: (14.4V) 2X150WRMS@4ohms/1x500WRMS@4ohms - $250
4x100WRMS (original): (14.4V) 4X130WRMS@4ohms/2x380WRMS@4ohms - $300
4x100WRMS (digital compact) - NEW!: (14.4V) 4X100WRMS@4ohms/2x300WRMS@4ohms - $400
800WRMS MONOBLOCK: (14.4V) 1X400WRMS@4ohms/1x820WRMS@1ohm - $400
1500WRMS MONOBLOCK - NEW!: (14.4V) 1X800WRMS@4ohms/1x1500WRMS@1ohm - $700

Also of note for doofheads include: (still only quoting 1 item prices, discounts for multiple items apply)

Roof mount 7.8" widescreen TFT LCD Monitor: Cat QM-3758 - $329
Post mount 7" TOUCHSCREEN TFT LCD monitor WITH VGA INPUT (hello carputer!): Cat QM-3749 - $549
In-car DIGITAL (DVB) TV tuner with dual-diversity antenna & remote: Cat XC-4829 - $749
1 Farad capacitor (square block style) with voltage display, blue LEDs... nice bling: Cat RU-6752 - $100
2 Farad capacitor (square block style) with voltage display, blue LEDs... nice bling: Cat RU-6751 - $150
Inline circuit breakers - 0AWG in, 0AWG out, 120A (others available): Cat SZ-6002 - $40
Dual battery isolator - Page 204, Cat: MB-3670 - $100

That's about all for the car audio products, some others I found interesting:

Now selling Proton Exchange Membrane Hydrogen Fuel Cells: even has a very low cost kit for a model car. It runs on water dude.... Page 38 - Cat: KT-2525 - $150. They are also selling just the cells, one does 6VDC@2.7A and costs $600!!!
Low cost RFID access control module - you can use this to operate solenoids... you can see where I am going with this. Also page 38: Cat AA-0210 - $60
A wide range of Tamiya electric motors and gearboxes. Page 40
Carbon Fibre look Missile Switch cover. Page 89, Cat: ST-0584 - $6
Super Hi-Fi speaker kit (2x ribbon tweeters PER SPEAKER!): Page 249, Cat CS-0800, in 2 speaker lots they cost $1080each)
600VA UPS with USB interface: Page 329, Cat: MP-5200 - $139

You should be able to get these catalogs from any Jaycar store now, although authorised stockists don't get them for about a month. They come free with "Silicon Chip' electronics magazine this month.

Enjoy - Joel

Everything should now be available for browsing at their website, but some things may not quite be on yet.

And Tuffy, your gear isn't superceded or anything - but this is double the power for less than double the price.

Appreciate the info, MitsiMonsta.
Doesn't make me want to rush out and grab anything, but definitely good to know.

Notice how Jaycar never provide any stats like THD, SR, DF, Sep and S/N ratio. Even ringing there tech department ends with no joy...:(

FHRX: They do quote signal to noise in the catalog. The new 4x100 'full range digital' amp is >70dB, while the rest of the class A/B's are quoted at >90dB. I just didn't type it. Sorry mate!

They also do quote input sensitivity on most of the amps, the class A/B's are 200mV-5V, no figure on the 'digital', and the 800W monoblock is quoted at 200mV-6V. No figure for the 1500W mono yet (early days though).

You are correct about the rest though. Maybe you could get your hands on some and do some benchtesting and measurement for your magazine articles???

Fart: You are correct in that Bundy has no Jaycar STORE, although I am almost certain that they would have an authorised stockist there - much like the non-company-run Tandy and Dick Smith stores in country towns. You *might* be able to get a cattledog there, but they have been known to be very slow in getting to stockists. You can find one enclosed in the new "Silicon Chip" magazine..... It costs like $8. That's how I got mine.

Big mono block looks ok but you have to remember that for the money you can get say:

Audio System F2 1250WRMSx 1 @ 2ohm ( 400+ Damping factor  ) $700ish
DD M1 1300WRMS x1 @ 1ohm for $800ish
Audison LRx1.1 about 1kwrms for $800ish as well.

I know where I would rather put my money...... so they aren't really that great price wise and feature wise the Jaycars will really lack. :D

ahaaaa.....but when you buy 5 or more (group buy) they are only about $530.......which is bargain basement cheap

so if you and 3 mates wanted about 3KWrms each it would set you back a little over $1,000 for the pleasure..
