Ok,
I've heard arguments for and against both types of brake pads, so it is pretty much going to come down to value for money for me. I'm looking at getting a set of Bendix Ultimates or Lucas equivalents. What I need to know is what sort of price should I expect for the Lucas pads??? and where can I get them. So far I have managed to get a best price of $115 for the Bendix pads. Anyone got much better prices?
Cheers,
Cruicky.

I paid $63.50 for my Lucas pads and damn are they good! Made a huge difference. But the downside is, they are a softer therefore dustier pad. If you have alloys or chrome wheels, be prepared to wash them twice as often and if you drive hard thrice as often.
And its worth doing in my opinion.
I got mine from the local brake shop in Bendigo.

look at bendix ultimates first, i had greenstuff, they stopped well, but were very squeaky, and after a few track days they de-laminated off the backing plate :shifty: . I replaced with ultimates and they were better on the track, no squeaky, but they do dust a lot ...

Dusty is ok.. as long as they dont squel.. lucas are real dusty now so it cant get any worse....:)
Most brake pads are crap now that they are not allowed to have asbestos in them. Asbestos was the perfect material for pads, but unfortunately was linked with cancer.

Yeah go the Bendix Ultimates. Great all rounder with no fade. More dust than usual but small trade off for good pads.
Depends who you know on how cheap you can get them.
I think for memory last time i bought ultimates i paid something like $70 for the fronts and $60 for the rears. Could of even been less than that. I bought them from a Bursons store through someone i knew but he has since gone.

depends on what ur after mate.
if u want something that lasts for aaages, dont give off much dust and dont give you much pedal feel, go for a hard compound pad like bendix
if you want something that actually bites down, are high temp rated, give off lots of dust, and squeek abit when cold, go the lucas.
it really comes down to personal pref.
if you dont use ur car for any spirited driving, then go for the bendix.
i've used 5 differnt kinds of pads, and by far, the best is the Lucas. sure it gives off lots and lots of dust, but pfft.... i like to DRIVE my car, not pose around in it.

Hey guys !
I have tried evey combination of pads and rotors around !
If your using the 274mm standard mitsi rotor then the bendix ultimates were the best !
The next step up is the EBC slotted rotors with green stuff pads !
I do a lot of hard driving braking so I found I tended to warp the rotors tho !
I have just fitted ralliart brakes & 294mm EBC rotors and now I can stop the magna !

I use the basic RDA break pads. They are only around $30 a pair and break really well. However i use RDA slotted rotors too, so maybe that's why they are so good. A bit noisy though on slight breaking

Just a note of warning . . . bendix ultimates are being phased out. Apparently they have a new line coming out soon.

Just a thought !
If you drive like my 80yr old Nana then you could use a couple blocks of pine as pads... !
Buy the product that best suits your driving...
If you drive normal traffic with normal stops then you would just be wasting your hard earned $$$$ on expensive pads and without hard braking the glaze squeeking would drive you nuts !
Just a thought !
