Does anyone know how much a new rack or a reco one would cost?

It may be slightly more for a 3rd gen. If you can, get an AC Delco reconditioned rack. They seem to be the best quality ones out there.
Are you having a problem with your steering?

I do have a bit of an issue with it. When driving in a straight line it tramlines pretty bad but when you turn into a corner it feels pretty good. Also it has a small leak which will turn into a big one in time... I think that it has done really well for 266000 km.:D

Tramlining will always happen with front wheel drive cars. The placement of the rack in the chassis is a big factor in how bad it will be.
Are you sure that it's the rack that's leaking?

Yep! I have been under there and it is definately the rack and im topping up the fluid every 2 months or so. So it isnt a bad leak.
