Am I imagining things? I disconnected the battery the other day to try n fix the fuel gauge which reset the ECU. Little number 5 flashed in my odometer and something that looked like LJ. I had to pick 3.0 or 3.5 and then some other options, can't remember what I picked cause i'd never seen it before. Now the car seems to run a little sluggish? Confused...

could be possible that you picked 3.0L.. not too sure what difference this could make to the car performance wise..
maybe try another reset and chose 3.5L

Also select 5 (for Sedan) instead of LJ (for wagon). Can't see it making a difference to the performance - as far as I know, those parameters are only used by the "trip computer" functions.

Did another reset just to be sure. But it seemed to come good this arvo... maybe it just needed to relearn my driving habits... Willowbank last night wouldn't of helped.
I love it when people talk about their ECU 'relearning' their driving habits.
If you knew the programming of the ECU - you would know that the variables are extremely marginal and therefore the 'learning period' makes SFA difference.

I love how people say "I love how people" Well I don't know do I, that's why I asked here. Turn around and head that way -->.
No - you don't know. So i had to skool you, biatch.

if its still playing up reset it again and go for a 20 min drive and drive it like you stole it
the renaults i work on need to be pluged in to a laptop and i can give them an extra 30kw buy playing round with the settings
but even the renaults learn how you drive and the auto is a self learning system as well

I've got a mate who's a mechanic with Mitsu and he says the same thing. When the ECU has been reset, drive the car hard for a few days. By doing this will slightly improve performance and increase fuel economy.

Increase fuel economy? or fuel consumption??
Just wondering - because increased performance (and "driving it like you stole it") are generally associated with worse fuel ecomony, not better.

Pretty vague statement, i know. Will speak with my mate and try and clarify why.......will post answer tomorrow.

The 'learning' of the ecu is related to fuel trim (based on 02 sensor). If your oxygen sensor is funny/buggered, then you will have both poor performance and poor economy. Learnt this one, reset the computer, the car went like hell for the first 15 minutes, then got bad again (running on default maps - far better). Fixed oxygen sensor - better fuel economy, no power loss.
The tranny does 'learn' your preferred shift patterns though.

Usually with most factory ecu's they will run on default maps if they arent getting the correct signal from certain sensors like o2 sensor, TPS, AFM, etc This way it runs conservatively rich to protect the motor, just as it does a WOT.
