Face it guys! All 2nd gen sun visor mirrors appear warped and are crap quality!
So if your mrs complains that the mirror is crap :doubt: then how about replacing it!
So here is a guide (with photos) on how to install a new one! (Takes 15 minutes)
So as you can see you need these tools:
A replacement mirror (I picked up a few from pick and pay less) this particular one i'm using is from a peugeot 19 series. European scraps have the best vanity mirrors!
Your sun visor. Or you can pick one up for $10 if you need to practice first.
Good old Supa glue
A knife, prefferably with jagged edges.
Ok!
So we have all the essentials now lets get started!
-First we use the knife to cut into the foam surrounding the mirror.
-Once this is done all the way around, cut further into the visor and lift the fabric to reveal the full mirror.
-Now lift the fabric and use the knife to lever the mirror out of its original sitting.
Woohoo! You've made it through the first step!
-Now cut some foam under the fabric to allow enough fit for the mirror (my mirror is 12cm across by 6.5 cm up)
-Each time you cut some foam out, try the mirror and once it fits snuggly grab your supa glue and start gluing!
-Glue the mirror into place and be careful not to get supa glue all over the sun visor (which is what happened in my first attempt so I had to scrap that sunvisor)
-Now that you have the mirror glued, hold it in place by usuing your elbow or forearm and lean on it gently for 1 minute.
-Once this is done put it in the sun for 1 hour and put some heavy objects ontop of the mirror so it sets in place nicely (forgive my tacky choice of objects in the pic)
Remember to wash your hands and throw all the little pieces of foam into the bin and the old mirrors.
Ta da!
You have a new vanity mirror set up and no one will ever complain about looking like an alien in your old sunvisor! :D
