hey, i got this ammeter for my car, for my stereo, and was wondering how the heel i would install it on a TR magna, anybody, plz, help? if u could include picture onto where to put the wires....coz when ever i connect to any wire, as a positive or negative, it just shorts out for some reason, ids ther a problem with the ammeter?

did you find that on the side of the road when you were cruising with your mates as well??

amp meters are not very good for cars as you have to pass ALL the cars current through the guage therefor it has to be hooked up somwhere near the alternator, voltage guages are alot more user friendly as all you need is a power source from any where in the car. just jokes about upper post

Correct setup for an ammeter involves all the current flowwing through an ammeter.

Ignore the dots, there just to give it spacing

the reason for this being a very bad setup, is ammeters effectively have 0ohms resistance. Attatch 0 ohms across your battery, and you um... **** it hard core. A.K.A. short circuiting it.

yeh an ammeter must be placed in series with the other components

but depends wat u wanna measure the amps for,
and u wouldnt need the whole of the car's current if u were wanting to only measure the amp's amp
