I know there are a few people who made it to the last comp. Well myself and Righty will be at the next comp for more SQ action in Braeside.
If anyone wants to come down and audition some great gear or compete themselves feel free.
Cost for competitors is $35. I'm happy to give anyone from AMC a quick once over to set up your levels and soundstage and teach you a bit about it all before you get judged... Just ask.
Great way to get some cheap feedback on all the gear that you've spent hundreds of dollars on (that usually has all the potential there for good SQ with some simple tuning)
Competitors should be there at 9am to sign up and it generally goes till around 4 pm.
Spectators welcome.
Peace
Tim

Should be able to make this month's, as Braeside is much closer to me than Narre Warren was.
As for the westside meets, not too sure yet.

If anyone is considering competing you get extra points for
a fire extinguisher
-Charged and suitable for automotive use
-Mounted securely (does not move around at all)
-Within easy reach of the driver
So seperate points for each of those categories.
Immobiliser (All 3rd gen's come stock) - Ideally If the system is armed the key shouldnt start the car although Magnas have the chip in the key so you should get by here.
Alarm
Door and Boot protection
If the system is armed and the door is opened with the key, the alarm should go off
If the system is armed and the boot is opened the alarm should go off.
Remotes
Extra point for a remote (must be in reach of the driver and visible whilst being judged
Extra point for an additional steering wheel remote/control
WiringSafety:
Grommet through firewall
Fused appropriately within 12" from battery (fuse should be mounted securely)
Appropriate gauge cable and appropriate fuse size for current draw
No exposed positive wiring. Terminals should be all covered up to avoid short circuits.
usually first time competitors are just warned though. But keep it in mind for extra points.

can i just use some electrical tape over the top or do i need the professional clear PVC ones?

Ideally you want proper ones. With the heat of your engine electrical tape will come loose.
You can buy these from car audio stores as well (I picked up one the other day for $2 in a bargain bin)
Other than that you can use small pieces of perspex even mounted over your battery.
You should also be able to disconnect your main power wire (generally at the fuse/circuit breaker) within 30 seconds. If your fuse requires an allen (hex) key to undo it, you should use cable ties to attach a key in the engine bay (securely) to allow you to undo it easily.
They wont actually ask you to prove that you can do it in 30 seconds if it looks like you can. (They've only ever asked one person to do it before)

Those verada battery covers are stupid...
My stock red rubber cap is fine as it sits nice n tight. Upgrading to an Optima D34 so may also upgrade my connections and covers as well...

The last one started at 9am, I'm guessing this will be very similar. The peak times are prob between 11-2, when all the cars are out on show the bbq is going etc. etc.

So whos coming down to the hoppers crossing event next sunday. I'll be there for the spl event as long as this glandular fever doesnt get any worse.
As its the other side of melbourne maybe we could meet somewhere and cruise over there for those people that are competing.
