i have boston accoustics rally edition splits in the front of mine - 6.5" midws with tweeters mounted on the A - Pillar - to match the boston accoutic rally inthe rear!! i just really need amps to pump them properly - hmm, just after my wheels i will get one!! Boston amp or Crossfire - still deciding!! there is about $300 difference - boston more expensive but better - hmm, i dunno!!

i have sony 6 1/2" coaxials, but i would love some type r splits  I have the high pass filter on the front so they only play treble and mid bass and the bass is coming out of my sub.. sounds good :)

Depends on what you have to spend.
I can tell you that Dyna Audio will do the trick.... but at $1300 for the tweeters alone i don't think that is in the budget.
Here is a good list to work on:
$0-$150 - Lanzar (not great... but the best for this price range)
$150-$300 - Boston Accoustics (nothing else comes close for the price)
$300-$500 - Focal
$500- above - Dyna Audio

For splits I would get Alpine spilts, they are very clear, but make sure you have a good amp too.
The Type R's have good bass too :)
or get MB Quart, they are very clear too :)

I'm running Boston Pro Series 6.5" Splits (RRP$999) Custom MDF speaker mount made for inside the door, along with sound deadening. Tweekers are in the OEM position on the dash. Crossovers mounted under driver's seat.

That sounds right. For ~$300 you'd be looking at the entry level ones, not the one you've got :)

999 for splits, wow you must be very much into car audio...
I thought 280 hurt for my bullets. Worth every cent though...

I paid closer to ~900 ;)
I remember when my mate first spent ~600 on splits - i thought that was insane, yet when i went shopping listening to them all, these were the pick! Then came the price :? Probably not the best value for money, but I'm very very happy with them so far! The only 'bad' thing is that they go so hard that they tend to drown out my single 12" 300wrms sub! :)

Yeah i think the rally series was worht about 650 but because i bought the rally series 6x9's as well - i got them both for $1000
but what is hurting me the most is knowing they have so much potential - i am only runnig them off the HU!!! and that hurts me!!
they are brilliant thouhg - i just know they can be better - but i want my wheels first then i will gt an amp - then later on i will get another amp and some subs then build my boot install - however i am still trying to decide between crossfire amp and boston amp
Crossfire: 699
Boston: 999
any ppl wanna comment??

I wouldn't get the crossfire for the spilts. They are good amps for subs as they have a lot of power but not good for expensive splits.

In my 2000 TH I have Focal Utopiz 165W3's. They are a 3 way split system, consisting of a 6.5 inch driver, a 4 inch midbase driver and a tweeter. They retail for $1300. I have put the 6.5's in the door with huge amounts of Fusion FUD sound deadening which bring the base staging right forward to the front of the car. The 4's are in custom made kick panels and the tweeters are in top of the dash board in the factory positions. They are rated at 110W rms with a 97db sensitivity.
These give incredible imaging so much so that with your eyes closed it is virtually impossible to pinpoint where the speakers are and how many there are...[/img]
