That one's easy. I've done it myself (so it must be). Tomorrow, when I have access to the manuals again, I'll tell you what wire you need to splice into for the oxygen sensor. The rest is just power and earth.

you find it in the bin.. throw the monster tacho in the bin, after a week it'll would have fixed itself up.

on most tachos tho, the wires are as follows
red- power, hook up to igniton wire, so u dont flatten ur battery

white- illumination, ditto

green- rpm signal wire, this can either be run to ur coils (mainly older cars i think) or u can find the rpm wire coming out of ur ecu

black- earth. find a really good earthing point, and make sure its secure, otherwise, ur power will fade in and out on the tahco, cuasing it to jump around like its retarded
then, u have a brown loop and orange loop of wire. cut the orange if u have a 6 cylinder, cut both if u have an 8. leave it if ur a four cylinder/rotor(?) i think the colours are right, correct me if im wrong

Hope that helps

I'll leave power and earth to your imagination, but make sure whatever power you choose doesn't become live until you've turned the ignition. You could use the same power wire as your stereo or patch into the ciggy lighter circuit.

The tricky bit is the o2 sensor signal wire. If you pull the carpet back in the passenger footwell on the side nearest the centre console you'll see a bunch of metal plates. Unscrew and remove the one closest to the firewall.

If you did around a bit you'll find a small flat plug with four wires going in to it. From memory they are coloured gray, black, white and something else.. red?. I was going to check this morning but forgot to bring a screwdriver down with me. The wire you want is pin 1. See the attachments to find out which one that is, it's one of the outside wires and I think it's the gray one. If you're still confused and have a multimeter, you can backprobe the plug to find the signal wire. You're looking for a wire that gives you a voltage somewhere between 0-1V and that hovers around 500-600mV at idle and under light load.

Splice into that wire and you're away.

man u rock thanks a ton,

edit: just a Q but how will the guage know the air-fuel ratio from 1 wire

The voltage output from the oxy sensor encodes the AFR. A voltage of, say, 600mV means 14.7:1, and things change fairly quickly around that point, so.. making it up as I go along, but as a rough guide..

950mV - 10.0:1
930mV - 11.0:1
900mV - 12.5:1
850mV - 13.5:1
800mV - 14.0:1
700mV - 14.5:1
600mV - 14.7:1 <- stoichiometric
500mV - 14.9:1
400mV - 15.5:1
300mV - 17.0:1

and so on.

The reason for the weird scale is because we're using a narrow band o2 sensor which is only accurate around 14.7:1. A wide band sensor usually has a voltage output between 0-5V and changes voltage linearly with measured AFR.. you use these types of sensors for tuning.

Huh, and I always thought those extra gauges were clocks, for checking the time in other countries :bowrofl:

Without reading most this thread cause its full of tacho bashers and nobody helpfull accept the last couple of posters, off the top of my head.

White - Illumination
Red - +
Black - Earth
Green - RPM signal
