hey i just bought a new water pump for my ts v6. now i only bought the pulley half of it. it came with 2 gaskets: 1 for the 2halves of the pump and the other is a pump-to-block gasket.

now, has anyone put one of these back together? do i use and gasket sealant on the gaskets or do i not???

and also, refitting the water bar, do i use sealant or just vasoline???

plz help, i need my car!!!

permitex? whats that?

would blue silicon gasket sealant work?

i also have this other stuff, its like liquid teflon, stinks like hell. made by loctite.
says its resistant to oil, petrol, water, antifreeze and most gases. would that work?

The blue silicone is good stuff, you just put a bead of it around the where the gasket would go and around the bolt holes, for a water pump you need a bit as you dont want to be pulling it off agin if it leaks.

You put in your new gasket and use blue silicon to completely seal it off. put the waterpump back together and put some blue silicone on the inlet pipe to the engine aswel to stop it from leaking when you replace into the head I had to do that on my 4cyl magna aswel

use permitex on the gaskets

is the permitex in a tube? or do u apply it with a brush?

should i then use permitex on the block to pump?

then, with the water bar that plugs into the back of the pump, should i just use vasoline to get it in or permitex or blue silicone???

small bottle with a brush smells funny and sticky

ok hang on. permitex is a brand and make heaps of sealants and s hit.

i used a stuff called water pump and thermostat sealant by permatex. its gray but is applied by tube not brush
