i am looking to put 18's on my TE.
does the size and width of the rim change the offset needed?
What width/profile rim/tyre should i go.
i was thinking 215/40 or 235/35 with 7.5 or 8 inch wide rims????????
Also i am going to put superlows all round. Would this lead to any problems with the increased wheel size?

Thanks

You will want 235/45 or 245/45 for 8 in 18's

For 7.5 invh rims you could go either 225/45 or 235/45

The offset will affect how the will sits on the hub and in your guards..

From memory the smaller the offset the more straight/further out the wheel sits.

thanks
so even if i go 235 or 245, i do not need to compensate by going to 35 series tyres??

what is the standard TE offset. Do i need to get wheels with a different offset if i get bigger/wider wheels?

standard 18" size is 235/40/18 for commodores, magnas, falcons etc etc, so it would also probably end up being the cheapest option, as it is a very common tyre. if your worried about insurance, (although 18's on a TE is too big anyway) make sure you get a 95+ load rating tyre.

235/40/18 ??

Interesting, when i was looking at 18's i was told 45 profile.. 45 would be a bit safer for your rims

My HDT VT came with 18s and 245/40/18 Falkens. I've put identical tyres on my TJ wagon and she passed the blue slip inspection when I brought her up from Melbourne.

thanks guys,
i think i will go 235/40 R18, just because im guessing it will be the cheapest tyre (most common).

What offset will i need the rim to be?
