Hey guys and girls tonight a dog run out in front of me and damaged my no.plate and the black think behind the plate .Just wondering what the black thing is for can i remove it?
ps ... The dogs alive and was taken to the vet!!!!

G'day.
Its hard to tell from the pics....but looks to me like the number plate support
bracket. I know my KS Verada has one, but not the TJ - the number plate
is held on with a couple of screws into clips in the plastic bumper bar.
Don't know if your model has one of these support brackets, but just unscrew
the number plate, the bracket will stay there. If its like my KS, it will have a
couple of bolts to undo (underneath) if you want to remove it.

i'd say that its possible for the number plate to move slightly with normal driving/wear and since its made of metal it will scratch the paintwork underneath. Plastic bracket underneath would create a buffer behind the plate preventing any damage caused by the plate

Hey i have one on my car too, i thought it was so you could use different screw holes on your number plate, rather than just the two center holes. :confused:
