 Guys just did a routine check after got the car back from mechanic that fixed the valve stem seals and new gasket and rocker cover as oil was leaking from there before.
Took the car for a long drive and got home and did a check underneath.
I noticed the passenger side front wheel was covered in a oil?
It seems to have leaked while I was driving because there are splash marks on the mud guards and behind the wheel.
I was wondering if anyone has any idea on what this is and if it will cost a lot
I checked the other wheels and the driver side front wheel and they all have no oil on them cept the front passenger one.

Here are some pics of it...

Thanks guys

Hey dimi108 !
From the picture it looks like the CV joint cover or boot has split !
The CV boot is a fleable rubber cover that holds the grease in and dust out !
This is not too expensive but will involve removing the wheel hub and CV joint to replace !
The boots are like $8 bucks or some thing but the labour involved is the cost unless you do it your self !

You are best off getting an exchange drive shaft as the cost in labour will be more for changing the boot. Not to mention that once dust and dirt enters the joint it is lights out for that joint.

I am surprised your mechanic did not notice the boot given that he would have been under the car at some stage to change the oil and oil filter.

Thank you so much guys.

Do you think I will still be able to drive the car for a another few days till I can take it to a mechanic after I get payed?
Or is it a big risk?

It will be fine for a few days it's just going to through more grease out and more dirt coming in.

Oh okies thanks for that *phew* i was thinking it was not drivable anymore

I'll try keep the driving to a minimum till it gets fixed.
Stupid mechanic.

My driver's side boot is shot, and I think the joint has been affected (looks like it's been shot for some time).
There's some on ebay for about $120 all up, any thoughts on those?

Talked to my "usual" mechanic in Corinda (who are usually reasonably priced, and good quality), and they said something like $240 a side for a driveshaft replacement, $90 for a boot fix, so sounds like Driveline are the place to go.

240 is a bit heavy

correct, $240 is very expensive. i bought a driveshaft for my car recently... cost me $105 for the driveshaft... i installed it myself. so for $140 or whatever installed is even easier.
