Hey lads, i have finally decided that my sports system is every bit as good as a Redback Cat-Back Exhaust System... from my thread "Redback vs Standard Sport System"

So my next idea is this...

Would it be a good idea to couple my standard sport cat-back system with a set of Pacemaker extractors?
Because i feel like i have a really good cat back system at the moment, pretty much equivalent to that of a redback so therefore the next part of my exhaust that needs to be done is my headers..

What would be the performance difference of these two combinations:
1. Pacemakers with Redback Cat Back System
2. Pacemakers with Standard Sport Cat Back system

Going from my thread "Redback vs Standard Sport System" i can see no performance difference between these two systems, maybe just a difference in note.
And also will i see good gains in power and torque by putting Pacemakers on coupled with my standard sport cat-back system?

What do you boyz think???

Depends on your definition of a good gain. You might get an extra 5kW if you're lucky. :D They will make a difference, and you should be able to feel the difference, but it's not going to blow you away.

Agreed :)

You arent going to see many gains on these cars unless you put quite a bit of cash into it.

the pacies will give you a little more above 3000rpm. not much louder at all....bit of a burble on backing off though

Are you going to give him the extra $8000 ???

I had pacies on my old TJ Exec, felt like the car lost a bit down low but was a little better at the top end. Combined with other breathing mods you should see some ok gains.

Do a blower setup yourself for around 5k, after pacies are installed with a decent high flow cat your looking around 900bucks, so your already saving around 20% and most people that get headers look at further mods sometime down the track.

I know I said it before, and I don't mean to be a repetitious knob, but if you want to spend money on "performance" in general, lower the car, get a front sway bar (get the car to handle better), get slotted rotors and ultimate brakes (pull up harder), or go the whole hog and get the awd rotor set.

The guys on here that did get the extractors did say they noticed an improvement in torque, but as already said, you would be dealing with an increase of probably 5kw/10nm

I agree on the saving for a blower.

Its just such a shame that Sprintex doesn't do the 3.0's, I SO wish they did.

Get the Hurricane Race headers. Longest commercially available primaries, and pretty close to equal length primary pipes. The longer the primary pipes, the lower in the rpm range improvements to power will occur.

Any idea what the part# is for the Hurricane's?

I heard that Xforce were revising their Magna headers, has anyone heard any news on that front?

ok, now after reading that the hurricane headers are 1 5/8 and so are rpws, and also im sure somebody has said it before, im pretty sure they are the same headers..

now what will be interesting to know is what are the prices for hurricanes headers compared to rpw's 'race design' headers

Did you get board or something and go mining for old threads this is the second one you have dug up from 2 years ago

dont ask me how i did it, but i managed to do this on two threads. both for headers
i had them open sitting next to a new thread and for some reason assumed this was a new thread to. :S

My experience says you will see no obvious gain unless you do inlet manifold too ie., the extractors really only work if you get the whole head breathing better. And that means starting upstream at the inlet manifold. And even then, you will need a piggy back ECU to get the best out of it. As someone here has already said, the gains are there to be had on 6G72/74's but it's not cheap and you have to look at the whole engine...

but im looking at the long run, no point putting in a crappy header, if i have to replace when i start doing more mods..might as well get the best to start with.
