hey guys just finished the conversion an hour ago,
The conversion took 3 weeks but should have been 2, there were set backs with clutch and flywheel due to Exedy stuffing up,
The conversion was very staright forwad, and the only hard part was getting the gearbox in:
(NOTE: unless u have an engine crane i do not recommend this job at home although the trans is smaller the protrusion of the flywheel and clutch plus a bit of the chassis getting in the way make for a difficult fittment)
power has increased and wheel spin is to easy on take off, my car has been tuned with the emanage with the auto so ill need to retune it,
im really happy with how things went and if u have questions feel free to ask

Congrats!!! i'd love to see how much this cost.
Im Sick Of Auto...So much power being robbed:cry:
so what parts did you need? pedals, gearbox, booster cylinders, dial cluster??, ecu? or does emanage take care of that

you wont get a 3.5 v6 into your ts mate. engine is the wrong way.

wow you beat muzza_oz lol, his car is still at the engineers,
how did you go with the wiring? did you just jump the pins at the inhibitor switch to make the car think it was in neutral ???
guess you don't need a mod plate down there ???

the $$$$ and the stupidity... would cost an absolute fortune.. way way more than purchasing a 3rd gen 3.5 litre manual... would be the most stupid conversion ive ever heard of.

what about installing all the interior upside down that would be a stupid conersion or instead of wheels putting small houshold items instead
just to keep things in perspective

You could also put the front end on the back and the back end on the front. Would go good with the upside down interior lol

Does it need an engineers certificate?
Was my exact thought as I am playing with the idea for later in the year. Also, if it does, do you need to take it over the pits as I will have fun there due to my tintz n stuff :)
Good work mate, go the manual conversion!

the 195kw debonair motor is 3.5L DOHC and bolts straight up; pity the car is rare as.... think kb or nicem8 might be putting one in....
Was it a brand new gearbox you put in?
Also how is the 1st to 2nd gear change? Does it crunch at all?
Clarion Magna

The gear box was second hand, and no none of the gears crunch

Clarion,
What have you done with the ECU? it is completely 100% stock the auto one, or did you buy a "manual" ECU?
Thanks,

The ECU hasnt changed, Afaik there is no "manual" ECU and the auto ECU is intergrated into the main ECU.
all i did was earth out the inhibitor switch to get it to start.
And i will try get some pics up soon
Well done Vince :)
Have you learnt to drive a manual yet? hehehe
Honest question, what's the quality of the interior conversion like? Pedal feel normal, shifter and linkages feel tight, console not all hacked at etc?

well if ya swap ECU's then ya buggered u may have to get a sports ECU for his car and keep the 3.5L one for u'r car

yeah you will have to put your ecu in his car and you will have to source a 3.5 manual sports ecu from somewhere
Phonic

Arn't the BEM's coded to the ECU, so you will have to swap them over too:shock:

if done right everything will be normal as per any other manual magna cos all the parts bolt straight on
the only thing you have to hack at is drilling a hole for the master cylinder to fit through which is pretty easy
the only reason the conversion would feel funny is if you bought a dodgy second hand part or didnt put something in right
