I have a dec 96' TE magna Executive, it is a 4speed Auto, there is a problem in the gear box or computer, When I put it into drive there is about a 5sec delay in going forward. and when I am driving it feels as if it is not going to gear correctly and is very rough between changes mainly between 2nd and 3rd gear, it also sometimes hits really really hard when changing from 3rd to 2nd when slowing down, it feels like you hit something. I can get it running great if I disconnect the battery for about 10 mins, the car goes gr8 for a while, the most that it has lasted without any probs is about 500klms. If I dosconnect one of the plugs that goes to the gear box it will go into reverse but not forward, so I really dont know what to do, and neither does anyone else. so if anyone can help me out with anything they might know that would be fantastic.

sorry dude, thats all i can think of. a few other members "had" this same problem, and they did the above, and some of those guys havnt seen that problem again.
oviously your problem is a little deeper than just a ECU reset :?
have you seen your mitsu dealer? what have they suggested?

could be a sign of your torque converter dying.

They Suggested that I replace the Gearbox and Computer, I do not think that i have to take things to that extreme, someone also suggested that I buy another computer with updated software. do you think this will fix the problem?, I quoted one and they want $1,300?????

hey dave, that sucks bout ur problem. I had the same, and sometimes it comes and goes still. It really makes driving the car shit at times, especially when the tranny warms up a bit, like after long trips.
Anyway, i got quoted $1256 for a new computer. If urs is really bad, then i'd think about gettin a new one. Get them to run a few "deeper" tests to see if it is the computer, they quoted me $40 bucks to do that. That way, if they say it is the computer, and u fork out $1200 for it and it ****s up again, then they'll have to keep replacing it until its fixed.
Good luck wit it.
