View Full Version : my tr died
   well my tr 2.6ltr decided to die unexpectantly. coming home from work yesterday their was a thud and the gearbox and it started slipping badly. called into a auto trans specialist and he said it was on its way out and needed to be replaced. ive spent so much money on this car exhaust system, v6 brakes, lpgas etc , very little in repairs though. also earlier in the week she sprung an oil leak from near an oil galley and sprayed oil everywhere. i can't believe its been running like a swiss watch then bang all this happens.
well i have now bought a kr verada, got a good price for the old tr so the deal was done. doesn't seem to have as much punch as my old tr bit surprised as its a v6 and all i had was a 2.6 . will have to get an exhaust put on and see if that makes any difference.. just loved my old magna though, will see how the kr goes.

How much trade in did you get for the TR, you should have come and seen me as I can get transmissions a plenty.
How much did you pay for the Rada? Could have brought mine with all the good bits there already lol
wanted $2450 for kr and i had an $8oo change over which i thought was pretty good.

tr1, i feel for you brother.
My automatic gearbox is doing the same thing, done 270,000 kms... Its slipping alot, especially when cold (even after warming up for 5 mins). Gear changes between 1st & 2nd gives a great kick, when roads are wet, traction is lost, but its fun lol. I have been told to go to a wrecker and purchase a reco'd transmission and swap it before anything happens.

Yeah slipping boxes suck. When i had my commie, i was at this car park. A truck didnt see me (he was reversing) and started reversing. I threw the car in reverse and it wouldnt go!!!.
It kicked in on the last second lol
