nah mate, have a look at the second pic
its next to the spark plugs, although im not loosing alot of coolant, and my heat gauge hasnt gone up, im wanted to get my car serviced, but this might cost heaps, depending on what it is.... hope its just a gasket or something cheap lol

I agree with Magna Buff (no surprise there) on this one.
If your lucky a retentioning of the head mite fix it, but usually you hafta take the head off. The water galleries are a real problem with the alloy head if coolant/rust inhibiter hasnt been used always.
Give it a wipe clean and run the engine, if you see the coolant oozing out from under the head where its sitting in the pics then its time for a head job. :D

Bit of chemi weld may do it for the moment. Either way looks like the head may have to come off. When you remove the head get them to pressure test it in case its something more sinister. Eg a pourous head. Happened to me once not on a mitsu had to get a replacement head..

thanks,
anything in the main engine i usually get the mechanic, so I will take it on monday to see what they reckon. hopefully not to expensive.
It slowly seeps out, but no change on the gauge - always check to make sure coolant in radiator before driving it. (it is a 2.6) its not from the rad cap or over flow.
its 'commin out' of the head, through a small gap.
anyway will let ya's know what it is, and how much its gonna cost
thanks again for the help, especially magna buff

cars sitting at the mechanics, got quoted $600 roughly to fix the leak.
all gaskets and materials, grinding of the cyclinder head.
(head has to come off)

$600 well thats about right
$ 150 in gaskets coolant
oil and filter should be changed
4 hours labour maybe a bit more
head repair work $ ?
2 or 3 days before you get it back ?
you are allowed 2 thou warpage for machining the head
hope it all goes well
Well its at a private mechanics, use to take my car to a dealer (footscray alan mance) but the cost is way over priced. Here they do the work as good for cheaper (they do ambulance/police fleet cars here also)
hope the price is good, plus a family friend knows the managers, so get a payment option to pay off any services done on it ! awesome for a student !

Mate, i have the exact same problem in the exact same spot. My suspicion was a warped head because of the previous owner. Haven't bothered to get it fixed as its not a big problem so far; no major loss of fluids. Instead, i'll be saving up and getting some headwork done at the same time plus a new timing chain and possibly stage 1 cam grind.

hey mate,
Well I get my car back tommorow finally, bad timing putting it in for easter (they had a fleet of the vic ambulances to do before good friday)
My car has only been worked on for about 2days, all the engines fixed, change some belts and some bolts.
Also got my engine serviced & transmission done at the same time.
(I wasnt loosing coolant either which was good, but the time i took it in it actually started leaking alot more - would not want to be driving and all the coolant drains out -> engine then burns)
