i have mine on the drivers side in front of the condenser. on the drivers side is a connector into the radiator from the transmision cooler piping, which i loosened and directed the opposite way. the other connector to radiator is closer to centre of radiator. i disconnected the hose from the drivers side radiator and spun around the connector and retightened .there is a straight metal connector coming from the gearbox end which i attached one hose of the tranny cooler to. the other hose comes from the tranny cooler and back onto the connector you just turned around, now facing the right way.
the way this is connected allows cooling through both original radiator cooling and additional external tranny cooler.
i will try and see if i can get a couple of picys up

if your going to put a decent sized cooler in bypass the radiator, as it is common for coolant to leak into the auto oil and vica versa, this was a major issue with BA falcon's but not just limited to falcons, if you get coolant go through your auto you will need all the frictions ( rebuild auto) replaced and quite often have to replace your coolant hoses and radiator,
thats my 2c worth

the third picshows where the new pipes are connected, the o.e hose went from the metal pipe in centre of pic to the brass connector.the first pic shows the connector turned around, and the second pic shows the split between where the two pipes come from the transmission, showing the hose coming back from the additional cooler. half hour job. this pic also shows where the pipe conncets to the centre part of the radiator. a little more time but achievable if ya wanna go with fordfellas idea. the way i see it is that mitsu built the car to use the cooler given to it and we all know heat kills transmissions, so why not have an additional cooler.

i couldn't get any of the cooler as it would not be much looking at from the top. as i said it sits in front of the condenser on the drivers side zip tied to the vertical lock support panel and the r/h rad support panel. when you first disconnect the pipe you will lose fluid(obviously) so dont forget to have some handy as you will also have to allow for the extra in the cooler.

i think as a general rule the aftermarket ones come in 4cyl 6cyl and 8cyl. i actually went to the wreckers and got one from another car(mate works at wreckers)cost me $20. cleaned it out with kero and degreased it. it was like new. it even had a couple of fittings on it i was able to use! and yes autobarn should have em.
*edit. oh the fluid...i would only get genuine mits. you will probably need to get 1-2litres.
