I just bought a Clarion PA10-S 10inch 600W Sub, its in a box at the moment that it came with and it sounds fine, but i want to create my own box to mount it in its special place.
Does anybody know what volume boxes these should have, ported and sealed ?
Also i want the sub nice and sharp sounding bass, so should i port the box or not.
and yes i tryed the search and it didnt come up with anything satisfactory.
Thanx IN Advance.

There are a few programs that will help you to design a sub box such as winisd and bass box. But from memory these subs don't come with any of the specs that these programs need, the clarion website isn't any help either. If you are happy with the sound of the sub in the box it's currently in, you could always just design your next box to be the same volume.

Alot of time and effort usually goes into sub boxes that come with a dedicated driver already installed.
The best thing to do, is find out the current volume of the current box and work from there.
Measure the dimensions of your box, and use one of the many calculators on the website below to work out the internal volume of it.

Also, is the box fully sealed or ported?
If ported, once you build your custom box to the same volume, find a port the same size (length and width), or use the one from the original box and place it in a VERY similiar position to the original placement in regards to the subwoofer.
If your custom box is going to be a weird shape, then get it as close as possible, and you may have to insert the port... then listen. Then shave 1cm off the port, then listen again, etc. until you find the best sound from your custom enclosure.
Write down the measurements, and your observation of the bass response. Once you find what you like, cut another port to size that gave the most desired result, and Presto.
Kind of trial and error in these cirsumstances.
Your other option, if it's a weird shaped enclosure, keep the box fully sealed.
