Im about to replace the stem seals on both our V6 Magna's (TR and TS) and I would like to know if someone could possibly tell me where to get the threaded tool that screws into the sparkplug hole and holds compressed air in the combustion chamber so that the valves dont drop out whilst replacing the stem seals.

Would love to help you out there but I had mine done at the mechanics it cost $200.

Can anyone help?

I've heard that it's a fairly standard fitting available at most auto places, eg. supercheap, repco etc., but don't quote me on that.

There's a significant cost difference between the 4 and the 6 in terms of getting this done by someone, as it's essentially twice the work on the 6, and a bit of a ***** to have to remove the manifold, etc., to get to the rear.

Repco would be your best bet I would say, I do mine using the rope method

I disagree that there is twice the work, there are only 2 more cylinders and as I do not use the rope method, I use air, I have made multiple fittings and can do 2 cyl at once. IT is a little more risky however I have done more stem seals than I have had hot meals. Even when the piston is near tdc the valve can not fall all the way out if you come to greif.

I have also made a tool to stop the engine turning over with the air as when you pressureise the cyl the piston will want to go down

Pity you are not in SA< I would have been more than happy to do them.
