My KE came with a Double DIN head unit, which unfortunately doesn't play mp3's, so im looking at replacing it and maybe just going back to the regular sized head unit, is there a replacement panel i can buy to fill in the space that will be left?
otherwise any recommendation for a simple double din that isnt too expensive, i only want to play mp3 files on my stock speaker system, as long as its brand name.....

Hey,
Just buy a "pocket" which slips into the hole in your dash if you install a single unit.

Any audio shop will have them, even JB or Autobarn.
Plenty on eBay for cheap as well.

I bought one from autobarn but it didn't fit properly, did the job though.

Try your local wreckers - the standard Mits pockets just screw straight out.

most aftermarket ones dont line up properly, but the genuine mitsy one should be cheap anyway, if not there should be plenty in the wreckers

My verada Kh came with a double din.
I installed the new Pioneer h/U and got a din pocket from JB. Slight modification, and it fit.
I would have rathered a genuine one from a wreckers. Would have been easier.

Yeah, I think i may go with the pocket thingy, it would come in very handy for storing things especially smokes for easy reach whilst driving....thanks everybody for the help...

Best thing to do is to get the proper one from Mitsu or from the wreckers. Even if you get the new one it saves on the frustration (like i had in my TL) when the third party dins dont fit.

He's got one of those Din-CD holders.
Just saw another alternative. The new Ralliart Lancer Evo IX, featured in this months motor, has a nice Din guage set that fits in the Din. Best of all it seems to have the white face and red writing to match the later 3rd gens.
