Just what i have found regarding our 96/97 magna advance.
Intermittant starting, 1 in 8 or 10, engine would crank, but no start.
Idle problem, up and down,...stalling.
Took it to a "authorised" service man.
He couldny work out the start problem, he did fix the idle.
He re adjusted the throttle positioning on the cables,...pulling to hard,..cleaned the throttle area and its perfect.
NOW, the start issue, he couldnt work it out.
This forum has.
I removed the cover panel from under the dash, cut the two wire plug out that leads to the key antenna, soldered the wires and insulated.
Has not given one problem since.
NOW,...being an electronic tech, i bought the connectors into the shop and put them under the microscope, i found small amounts of corrosion but the main thing was that the connector is too heavy for the guage of the wire which leads to vibration, which leads to arcing, which leads to corrosion, which leads to no start.:bowrofl:
SO THERE YOU GO
That engine light still comes on intermittantly, who knows !!!
Thanks Gary
