Ok here is my setup:

http://www.mp3car.com/vbulletin/attachment.php?attachmentid=26115&stc=1&d=1141022236

Amp 1 is the Rockford 2-ch amp (600RMS/1800Max)
Amp 2 is the Soundstream 4-ch (480RMS)
The CarPC has a 15 Amp built in fuse (160 Watts)
The PS2 (60 Watts)

Fuses A is next to the battery, B,C,D,E are in a distribution block in the trunk

My question is:
Fuse A: ???
Fuse B: ???
Fuse C: ???
Fuse D: ???
Fuse E: ???

Wire 1: ???
Wire 2: ???
Wire 3: ???
Wire 4: ???
Wire 5: ???

Moreover, Will i have trouble powering all of these, and what must be my battery specs. Currently it has 55 amp/hr??

thnaks for the help.

Each device should have a marking on it as to what current it draws. The O/P power is fairly irrellevant. The fuse you choose for each sould be rated at about 15% higher than the I/P current draw of each amp etc, except for the one that has its own fuse, use a 20 amp for that and it will blow the one on the unit if theres a problem.

The wire should be rated at about 15 - 20% above the fuse value and add the 4 wire ratings together and add 15 - 20% for the main wire. The main fuse is the same as the rating for the 5 wires added together.

I hope that makes sense to you.:D

I know about those rules, i just wanted to make sure.

Does this look fine?

Fuse A: 150 amp
Fuse B: 60 amp
Fuse C: 60 amp
Fuse D: 30 amp
Fuse E: 30 amp

Wire 1: 4 awg
Wire 2: 8 awg
Wire 3: 8 awg
Wire 4: 8 awg
Wire 5: 8 awg

What about the battery, what specs do you have on yours (Ah & CCA)?

Are the above ratings OK???

fuse A <= the total of all the fuses for all the other devices.

You dont need any other fuses. (all the other devices are already protected by fuses)

The fuse on the main power wire should be within 18 inches of the battery closer the better)

And the fuse is there to protect the wire... Not the devices.

Tim is correct. The main fuse at the front of the car is to protect the car in the event of a crash. Unless your components are not already fused internally, you don't need addition ones down the back. :)

I already have that fused distribution block so using it won't hurt. I can the fuse on the CarPC & soundstream amp, but i'm not sure if the rockford amp has one.
What about the total wire guage. I'm currently using a 4 awg wire, but the woofer amps are not connected. will it take all the load to the DB?

Anybody knows if 4 awg is fine for my setup??
I can't find anything bigger.

I think i'll go with it then

you need to determine the maximum amount of current that can go through the cable. Add up all the fuses on the line. so all the amps and ancillary devices etc.

Wire Gauge - Fuse Size
2/0 gauge - 430 amps
0 gauge - 345 amps
1 gauge - 265 amps
2 gauge - 215 amps
4 gauge - 135 amps
6 gauge - 80 amps
8 gauge - 55 amps
10 gauge - 30 amps
12 gauge - 20 amps
14 gauge - 15 amps
16 gauge - 7.5 amps

Your 4 gauge is good for around 130 amps. It is always better to exceed this, for safety. And for upgrades later on.

I would be very surprised if ur rockford amp doesn't have a fuse.

I read the manual and it says i have to put a 60 amp fuse near the battery for it. I can't see anything in the manual or on the amp itself regarding a built-in fuse.

anyways thanks for the help guys. I'll be going with the 4 awg wire for now, and tell you what goes on. As i said, i was hoping to put some bigger wiring but didn't find any bigger than 4 awg.

Jaycar sells 2 gauge.

Otherwise go to JB or a stinger retailer and they can order you anything... Although it costs a pretty penny.

Otherwise if you want to do it on the cheap look into welding 0 gauge. BOC gases for instance. Cheap as chips.

:D I'm not in australia. I live in the Middle East - Dubai.

I already have the 4awg wire installed. I'll try to look around again.
The stinger retailer we have is ripoff. I went to order a 200 amp anl fuse, he told me it would cost 50 USD for just the fuse and it would take a month to get here!!!

I ended up ordering it myself for a total of 12 USD a'll be getting it in 3 days:D
imagine asking them to get me a 0 gauge wire. It would cost as much as my whole audio system.
