Hi all,
Just got a sports exhaust this morning from Nathan cheers mate:)
Anyways, with the long weekend coming up, id like to be able to fit it myself. Is all I need a flange and thats it, it should bolt on ok? Its from an 02 magna sports. I own a TH sedan.
I jsut want to jack it up, unbolt and undo the rubber thingos that hold the exhaust.
Anything else to it?
Thanks!

lol i'm also looking to do this, any help would be great!
I have a TJII and the donor is a TJ sports muffler (with flange) so in theory it should just be a matter of unbolting the old, bolting up the new.

The only thing that im thinking of which might cause some issues is the rubber thingsthat hold the exhaust....

Just had a quick convo with the guy i'm buying the muffler off, he said you just unbolt the old muffler (3 bolts), grab a new gasket and bolt up the new muffler.

mate it's teh easies job in the world. If you got a RedBack or something it bolts straight in, all you need is a set of new bolts, as the stock exhaust has nuts welded to the flanges for the bolts. other then that, use new seals and i also used some exhaust paste sealent, the one that expands after heating, it helps i find anyway.

I welded my own zorst on used some piping 2.5" and some of the stock piping was easy to do.

We have mufflers that bolt onto the stock piping, so no welding is neccessary.
Are you sure we need to get new bolts?

Ive been told by a few people thats its a straight swap. That u can use the existing flange and just swap it over.....

well i i had a full exhaust form red back and there is no nuts on the flanges like on the standard system. I can't remember whether it is the muffler end or teh cat end that has the nuts on the flanges, it never hurts to have two new bolts, they are only a couple of bucks all up.

Anyone tried this yet?
I just attempted it and found out that theres something on the back of my muffler attached to something thats attached to the rear support of my car. I cant see any obvious signs to undo it, so was just wondering what this was.

There should only be the 3 flange bolts and 2 rubber mounts. The 2 rubber mounts are bolted onto the muffler with 12mm bolts from memory.

I tried but couldnt get the bolts off. Ended up bringing to a place to do it, they put a new gasket on, new bolts and done it really well for just over 40 bucks. Sounds great, and it goes hard....

Yeh they are rubber.
I'm just going to get an exhaust place to fit it for me, how much should i be paying?
Its a 15minute job for someone with the right tools.

the hard part is getting the 3 bolts off at the flange!
a bit of armorall on the 3 metal nob that goes through the rubber and carefully with a big srewdriver lever it off. dont need to undo bolts.
only other thing is u may have to get the wheel off if ur using stands to get it out.

Yeh i couldn't get the bolts off so i just gave up and got mitsubishi to do it for me when my car went in for it's recall. Cost me $20, happy with that :).
I tell you though, the car sounds bloody unreal now! Highly advisable mod for the exec boys.
