Yeh depends on the colour of your car to how dark you go.
Many people on these forums have done it using nightshades, though i think they were mostly 3rd gens. Do a search and you might find some pics.

I've gone for the euro look for my TS (yes, Wagon... now stfu *laughs*)... only semi-tinted the yellow indicator only to leave the red brake light lens as-is as well as the in-built red reflector to keep it ADR legal.

If you wanted to be sure, maybe tint everything, but replace all the bulbs with LED's so they shine right through.

i would tint, Looks mad as.

I vote no, just as safety issues. To me just because I cant get cool altezza lights I will not resort to tinting them if I can but if you have spare lights and nothing to do, why not?

well about the colour issue, ive seen it done on a white 3rd gen and i reckon it looks ok, but im not gonna go really dark, and am gonna put higher amperage bulbs in to make the lights brighter. my mate has tinted the lights on his lancer and they look really good, they arent very dark and the colour of the indicator is still visible from a fair way away. but keep the opinions coming

1.) I don't think they look good cause the mat and get sun damaged easy.
2.) There ilegal.
3.) Asking for a rear ender as they deminish the lights brightness during the day and night.

Illegal only if they dip under certain Lumens (the measurement of brightness... 1 Lumen = light shed by a single candle) or if they obscure the red reflectors to the rear. Hence why I only tinted the indicators... goes very well with my mostly-black, shadow chrome and highlights of red theme (uprated calipers, rear lights, small RalliArt badges *lol*, etc).

Just be careful not to go overboard. The matt finish was solved with two coats of clear-coat :D

whites the best colour to tint lights!

although the safety issue still applies to me aswell...even though i love tinted lights!

maybe u could mask off certain shapes infront of the globes on the lenses and tint everywhere else? ul keep the globe shinning bright at least.
i dont know if that would be classed as illegal or even look any good lol.

keep us posted!

i have mine done; they look hot and the amount the light is diminished is insignificant they light up brigt as and you can still see them clearly in the day. One thing is they come up dull compared to the clear coat which would be altered with the use of a good laquer. Clear acrylic was in effective for me.

They do look the best on a white car too.

the sun tends to kill it after awhile.

Ive done mine twice with around 4 coats each time.

Tinted tailights on a white car looks horrible, but thats just my opinion :). Do some photochops first to see if you like it or not.
