There was a thread about this not long ago, and I think off memory the result was that you won't get any power at all.

Mainly due to the fact that the Ralliart ECU's are programmed to be used with the Ralliart cams and higher compression... But hey, good luck to ya!

is the ralliart ecu you have acquired a manual one or a auto? because if i remeber corectly the TJ series cars run a joined engine and gearbox ecu (PCM) and sometimes with such a system an auto one will have problems running with a manual car as it does not receive a signal from the inhibitor switch, it can be rectified though.
I'm not sure if this is the case with magnas though, Just curious

yup it is the ralliart one .. from the other thread ... just wanted to try ! .. paid $450 for the ***r .. and the guy still stands by his word that it will make extra power ... nehow .. looking into cams from rpw and might get heads shaved too (is this how higher compression was achieved in ralliart motor?anyone?)

its a 5spd ralliart computer .. my th is a 5 spd ... and plugs are identical .. plugged it in and turned her over but she wouldnt fire cos i dont have matching bcm for computer yet ... but its in the mail .... should get it next week

heres a question for everyone .. jaycar digital fuel adjuster (interceptor) ... anyone know how effective these are on a 3.5? ... obviously would want a dyno test n tune.. cos i have one sitting here but havent bothered to chuck it in nething yet ... jaycar reviews say its the shizniz on the cars they trialed it on .. but jaycar would say that being their product lol

will keep ppl updated on how ralliart puter goes if neone shows ne further intrest ... once again thanx to everyone for their input

i think with a new ecu and bcm.. u may need new keys as well. i have replaced them before, and for some reason, the old keys wont code up.. so new keys were ordered and coded, and all worked ok. good luck

I'm sure he is. This proves he know's nothing about what he's saying. You might gain a couple of kW with a change of ignition timing. Fueling wise, it already runs rich so it might make it run slightly richer which will actually cause you to loose power.

...and might get heads shaved too (is this how higher compression was achieved in ralliart motor?anyone?)
The increase in compression was done by the use of higher compression pistons.

Yep - higher compression forged pistons, but deck/shave 5-10thou off the heads (mitsubishi state max of 0.2mm ~ 8thou IIRC) and you will go to 9.4:1 - roughly.

The ignition timing is tweaked to make use of the higher compression, and higher airflows at low RPM that the camshafts and headwork give.

I am looking at fitting all of the go-fast bits from the Ralliart onto an AWD - problem is the traction control that was fitted to the auto models - not sure how to avoid issues with this...
