Time has come to change the rear spark plugs and i'm not sure if it is worth doing them myself? Have many people done it or just gave it to the machanic? If so how long did it take and how hard was it?

i have bought NGK LASER PLATINUM for around $25 a piece, are these the good ones thast most people put in? is it true the that they last b/w 80-100km because the sales person seemed lost at repco.

it turns out the asshole sold me 6 rear spark plugs:rant:. i checked on the internet and they don't make platinum plugs for the front.
so i went back and just bought iridium once for the front

Can you place platinum in the back and iridium in the front? will that be okay?

Im running platinums in the front and rear no probs at all. You can use the same on the fronts and rear without any probs. Whilst your at it you might as well change the spark plug leads saves you removing the intake manifold twice.

for the money you paid for the others, you may as well go Iridium IX all around. They're a superior design and you don't even have to gap them. Just make sure that when next your car goes to service the mechanic doesn't throw your front set out!

Yeah ive done it.. i run Standard plugs front and rear.. i change them all 5-10K.. its easy, takes about 20mins to undo the 8 bolts and lift the plenum up enough to get to the back plugs.. stuff spending silly amounts of dough on spark plugs..

Im just used to two strokes where you gotta change them reguarly.. oh and dousnt matter how expensive your plugs are they still get a build up of crap on them..:)

I you look at the codes you will see that the front and rear plugs are exactly the same heat range and construction type. however the rear plugs are platinum type electrode for 100,000 service life while the front plugs are the cheaper standard electrode with a 45,000 Km service life. Personally I would just stick in all six platinum plugs and worry about them 100,000 km later cos cost wise there is bugger all difference in cost over the 100,000Km life.:)

I'd like to see you get the tools in there to take out the rear plugs without removing the plenum on a 3rd Genlol .
