View Full Version : KH Verada cruise & audio controls erratic!!
Hi guys, my KH Verada xi, which has the stalk mounted cruise control, as well as the stereo controls on the bottom of the steering wheel, has started to play up.
Basically, with the cruise, when I press the button to turn the cruise on/off, it doesn't always trigger.
Likewise, my audio control buttons need to be pressed really really hard before they function.
Has anyone experienced these issues before, and what is the solution to them?
I unscrewed the steering wheel audio control buttons just now and sprayed some electrical contact cleaner.....seems to be working well now, but sometimes still cuts out.......almost as though it needs to be clamped tighter to ensure electrical contact, even though the screws are all done-up.
it happened to my TE (the cruise thing) wouldnt always engage, I replaced the brakes because they were warped and now been fine ever since.

It could be dirty contacts thats used by the audio controls and the cruise control
switches. You need to open up the steering wheel to do clean it.

My KH had the same problem. The audio controls would work, then not work, then work... very temperamental.
But now i bought i new headunit, so they dont link up now anyway.
Mitsubishi are aware of the issue aswell... Have you not noticed that after the KH, every model did NOT have steering wheel controls?
Hmm...?

Say again?? Every Xi from KS on wards had steering wheel audio controls. In fact every
Verada in the KW series has audio controls on the steering wheel.

Sorry, i just realised my mistake...
Ei's dont have them. My mistake. But a mitsi guy did admit to there being problems.
I still reckon its dirty contacts as JZT's cruise control has the same problem. In the hub of
the steering wheel, there are concentric rings where each ring has a sprung flap pushed
against it for contact. Each ring is for a particular electrical function. E.g. 1 ring may be for
the horn, 3 rings may be for the cruise control and 6 rings may be for the audio controls. It
could be that some of the flaps fail to touch the rings at certain steering wheel angles.

Clock spring may be faulty. If you can open the audio controls maybe some electrolube may fix them.
