Hello,

Has anyone had the roof lining redone or replaced? How much did it cost?

Thanks!

i reckon you could tackle this yourself?

Just peel the old stuff off and glue some new stuff on maybe?
i know the felt comes off pretty easy so i dunno, why dont you give this a try yourself?

get a roof lining from the wreckers and use that, see how you go, might end up saving yourself a few hundred!

mines pretty good was only coming off alittle in the back and I don't know they didn't put as plastic trim on the back and only on the front so I got the proper glue glued the felt back on lightly touching it so it wouldn't come through the felt then went to the wreckers and ripped off a front plastic trim had to be cut to size for the back a little then sqeezed a bead of glue on the inside then lightly pushed it over the end of the roof lining trim and now all fixed oh also placed strong pegs along the trim over night.

You can do the job yourself with a help from a mate when it comes to placing the foam and felt on so you don't make a mistake.

Last i heard someone doing this for there VN Commodore they paid around $190 give or take.
be carefull on who does it as some places just repair your lining buy peeling it back a bit and spraying a glue on then placing the felt back over the glue and a few months later it starts on another section of the lining so ask what they do before you let them do it so you know if there going to do it right or not.

mine started to peel away at the back, tried everything till i just stapled it and everything is rosy, no need to spend money when its not needed, you could redo it yourself pretty easily if you take the whole roof lining out.

is that for the materials? or the whole hog installed?

if its installed, it would be worthwhile...id do it and get the same colour carpet

Includes the whole roof lining re-done. :) I like the current light grey roof lining, not too light that it gets very dirty too easily, but light enough to give the interior a more 'happy' feel.

Just do it yourself. Use a thick but porous material from any materials shop - pinup board works well. Remove the whole roof shaped carboard thingy from the car, remove the old stuff and stick the new material on with contact adhesive. Be careful to not use too much so that it seeps through the material. Trim and replace. Worked for me on several Sigmas in the past. Cost = approx $60, plus sweat. Alternative - upholstery pins to hold the original liner up, or remove the whole lot and pretend you are driving a rally car - but when it rains, it sure is noisy!! LOL

I have a spare "as new" 2nd gen executive sedan rooflining that is stored under my bed, it was relined professionally 12-18 months ago and spent 4 months fitted to my car, I removed it from my car when I replaced the interior and electrics.
The catch is I live in northern NSW and rooflinings are bulky and expensive to freight, so if someone in northern or north west NSW needs one feel free to PM me about buying mine.

I re-glued mine, by myself. One and a half tubes of maxbond, some old shirts and about half a day to get the bugger out and it's all fixed, looks fine.

Mind you, I had all the material intact.
