i head ammeters are useless and dangerous.

we have one in our boat, and all they tell you is if ur battery is charging/ alternator working...
ours is a VDO, and when we went to get it serviced in heidleberg, they said to throw it out coz they are crap....mind you, its about a 1970 model gauge so urs may be alot better.

i dont know if its wired the same as the boat, but the ammeter can easily catch on fire...but thats only what ive heard.

id hate to see anything happen to your TUFFTR mate! god i love that thing!
:)

i thought i'd get something usefull instead of an 11 thousand RPM tacho or 20Pound boost gauge lol........i don't like the sounds of "easily" and "catch on fire"..

maybe an oil presure gauge might be usefull but they said as long as i use 18gauge wire it should be good.

man im worried now....Ya see this is why i'm not connecting em up yet
Me connect up ammeter with no idea = big firelol

its a very important gauge and a pitty the magna didnt come standard with one :(

go to an autobarn and ask to speak to a fitter in there, they will usually give u an idea of what to do.... (keyword : usually)

Yeh the ammeter is not really what i classify a useful product; just return it for another guage. These are the 3 main guages that i'd choose; water temp (so you can actually see what temperature its running at, not just hot or cold) oil pressure, and oil temp. Another good one would be air/fuel mixture reading. They let you see alot of whats going on with your car.

exactly right Firestorm.

although (i may be wrong), isnt an air fuel gauge only good if ur car has a hairdryer?

i guess it would work....but would there be any benifits given the fact the computer adjusts everything?

plz correct me if im wrong because i plan to fit a few gauges also :)

yeah good idea man, i got the voltmeter mainly just to see how long i run the stereo before it starts to go flattish....
So....now i will replace the ammeter with an oil pressure gauge, all good, but gee i hope these pods they fit in arnt expensive!

IF i have money ill get the oil temp gauge, when ya coming down to sunshine next:) :)

Air fuel ratio is very helpful with determining if your engine is running efficiently. Will tell you if your car is running rich or lean.

Ok, for the Water temp one, wheres the sender, this one should be easy as it need power (duh) then to the dash curcuit so the light will turn on, and theres one for a sender.....could i tap into exsisting wires that run into the stock water temp unit in the dash?

Ok well i figured out how to connect up the ammeter, just gottaa tap into the wire that goes from the alternator to the battery, and then to earth, Wheres the water sender unit though? ill look through the PDF but just in-case anyone knows off the top of there head that'd be good.
The guy @ Autobarn said i use the exsisting water sender unit in an adaptor where the sender unit screws into this adaptor thing in the top radiator hose....
