I wasnt too sure if to post this here or in the 2nd Gen Forum, i considered this more a mod so here it is.

Currently im on a small holiday from uni and as most of you will know from ya high school days, the holidays can get boring real quick. So i thought i would make a small start on the colour coding of my 2nd Gen. I decided to paint the external mirrors, just something small and subtle to begin with. My magna being the most basic model that was ever released (GLX), i decided that the mirrors needed to be changed. I began by first painting the cover that faces away from the driver (to make it look like the Verada equivalent).

However i wasnt too pleased with how it came out, it looked unfinished and a little tacky. So i proceeded on and painted the arm that connect the actual mirror to the door (similar to how the same model Diamante was done). This was a little tedious because i had to take the door trim off (breaking the one of the inner door handles in the process  ) to get to the screws that connect the mirror to the door. Painting them was a little difficult too, as they were very odd shaped. However, three days later, they were done.

What do you guys think ??

That looks tops mate!:D

I really like it.

Also, did you paint the top part of the doors yourself? (the part that surrounds the glass)
Something just looked a bit odd, it took me a while to spot it; but looks good once you get used to it.

I might do that to my doors aswell, i did the mirror cover, and looks fine, but doing the whole assembly look very unique.

Also the Bit That surround the glass, was that hard to do? Ive been wanting to do re mine for ages (only in black, but color coding it would look very different) but just cant be bothered.

When you color coding the rest of the car?

thanx for the inputs guys, GREATLY appreciated.

Yeah, one day i'll get around to colour coding, other priorities first though

Im not too sure about the part that surrounds the glass, thats how the car came, i only touched the mirrors.

It would have been awesome trying to implement the Merc style indicators, maybe get some from a wreckers or something and just take the clear plastic and LED assembly out of it and "somehow" incorporate it to the Magna ones, hmmm *notes that down on the to do list"

But seriously, thanks for the comments :)

Haha looks good. Weirdly enough it makes the car look alot newer than before.

Well it didn't take me three days, more like 3 hours, but i got it done..

and i didnt take the door trim off too:D

just took off the 3 screws on the side of the mirror and peeled back the doortrim slightly.
They look awesome now, but be warned if you have the electric mirrors THEY ARE A F**KING ****** to get back on.
took me an hour, most of it swearing, to get these back on.

Overall, looks good......but f**k me are those mirrors hard to get back on....well.....they were hard to get back in initially, but then i found another way of getting them.

Only thing now, is the cracked mirror works fine, but the good mirror doesnt go up or down!!!
