View Full Version : Coolant leak from the radiator
i have a VERY slow coolant leak from my 2.6L TR radiator, i know where its coming from, the drain plug or around there and i just dont know whether it has an o ring on the plug to seal it, because if it does then i think its split or cracked, if not then i think the thread on the plug is wrecked or something, has anyone had a similar problem, or knows what i should do to fix it, i would drain it right now and fix it but i need the car atm and topping it up every 3 days or so is easier atm, but i am not completely sure what to do, i dont really want to drain my radiator and not know how to fix it if its the thread

Yes there is a rubber seal on the drain plug either a radiator joint can give you one or try the dealership for one.

yup, that's right it has an o ring on it, should be able to mach it up at your local auto parts shop, it's pretty unlikeley that the thread on the plug is stripped but not impossible, some auto parts shops sell the plugs, so it shouldn't be a real prob that's gonna put the car off the road (if worst comes to worst you could always use a bolt with the same thread as a temporary fix) hope this helps:)
