Just wondering, since I think most of the manual magnas kick autos butts, is it the same for the 380's?

yeh mate, definetely quicker, by around 0.5 a second or so iirc, which is around about the same difference as was in TJ/TW magnas.

Yes. The offset is the manual consumes more fuel. Its to do with closer gear ratios.

... and a stupidly short legged diff ratio which eaves the manual spinning at about 3000rpm in 5th at 100km/h.

Not much different than the 5spd manual magna. Over 3,000rpm in 5th at around 120km/h from memory.

2600 at 110, so ~2850 at 120. Either way, its still too quick. I'd rather that than an SS commodore in 6th gear doing a whopping 1100 rpm at 110

but your not using much fuel at that speed in 6th, so on a long trip it is good

Exactly and if you want more oomph all you have to do is slip down a cog or two, no big deal.

You actually use MORE fuel at revs that low because the engine has to work harder to maintain the speed. Optimum rev range is between about 1800-2800.
yeah holden is about 1600-1800rpm at 100-110km/h
and using very little fuel

Unless they have different fueling maps the only time that manual would ever possibly use more fuel than the auto would be on a steady state high speed trip, around town it'd still kill the auto for fuel economy, just simply less power loss and less throttle required.

Most likelly, but Mitsubishi still states the average fuel consumption for the manual 380 to be greater.
11.4 for the manual vs 10.8 for the auto.

But scince when do we take factory claims seriously lol I don't know how they get away with some of their claims.

Hhehhelol , but come on 4.111(man) final drive ratio!!! vs 3.33 (auto), I'm sure it'll use a little more fuel simply because it'll be revving higher everywhere you go.

Todays issue of Wheels puts the 380 auto's acceleration times at...
0-100 kmh 7.9 sec
0-400 meters 15.7@ 147 kmh
14.7 l/100 test average

Just let you know that I picked up my 380 VRX a week ago and already have 1600km on the clock (company car) and thanks to a long weekend down at Manjimup. It is a 5 spd auto and at 110kph it sits around 1800rpm. Fuel was around 9.4ltrs per 100km.
Handling 10/10
Engine 10/10
Comfort 8/10
Quietness 9/10
Cruise Control 11/10 - Thank god for cruise control. These cars are so hard to keep on the speed limit, especially around 60 - 80 kph. I find myself using the cruise every where. Does anyone else have the same problem?
One thing I noticed when comparing the auto 380s vs the manual 380s. The autos are
more fuel economical thanks to a shorter first gear (3.7 vs 3.2) and a taller fifth gear (0.6
vs 0.8).

I drive a TJ Magna, but i reckon the cruise control on that is a godsend, there's a long stretch of 50km/h road (very wide too) on the way to my fiances place, if i didn't have cruise there's no way i could sit on 50km/h.

Atleast your company cars are decent. Speaking of the 380VRX what do you think of the integrated stereo and exterior looks? I like to get opinions of others as I'm very interested in what people think of the 380.
