This was requested by a member.

Firstly, buy a decent quality glue. I used Selleys KWIK GRIP.
Next, undo the screws as indicated. At the bottom, and up the side of the door are plastic clips that can just be pulled on to pop out. Then remove the door handle by just slipping it through the hole where it sits.

Once the door cover is off you should see these metal teeth holding onto many plastic molds which holds onto the door trim. Use a flat screw driver or something similar to wedge these up. Do not break the plastic, as these are the only things holding the trim in.

Then remove the old material by just pulling it off.

Then turn the old trim upside down on the underside of the new material. Then trace around the old material.

Once you have traced around the outside, and inside where the door handle goes, cut it out. It should look like this:

Then, glue all over the underside of the material and all over the upside of the door trim plastic.

The underside of the door trim plastic needs only to be glued around its edges for when the material is folded around.

Then just fold the material around the door trim mold and attach back on the door.

Here's a comparison from the old material to the new material:

Hope this has helped.

Good write up dood!

i wasn't that smart to think to pull off the rings around the plastic nibs....so i just ripped the thing off.....got some sikaflex and put a potplant on the trim while it dryed..

Yours is a much better way!:P

i'm about half way through covering my door trims in carbon film, but i broke all of the tabs off (most were broken off already). so i drilled the holes out and countersunk them, and got some stainless steel bolts with locknuts and washers (30 of them, cost about $30) looks pretty good with the bolts, but the carbon film isn't that great, i't sort of coming apart (if you know what i mean). i've only finished the back doors and i'm already thinking that i might re-do them in vinyl or something.

i didnt "re-do" mine, i had to make mine as it didnt have any trims, i used MDF and a stronger glue to stick foam to the mdf then i streched orange material over it and stapled it, and put on my speaker grille

heres some pics, they are from my phone camera so the quality isnt great, i gotta get a digital camera, i'd be grateful if someone could take pictures of my car for me, but let me know in advance, my car needs a wash  :P

Do you have to guess where the holes should be or are there marks for the locations. ?

Well I have the standard door panels without those trims so I was wanting to know if you want these trims do you have to guess where to put the holes or did mitsubishi put hole guides on all panels.

it depends on what holes your talking about, forget about using the clips i just screwed a 10mm long 8g screw through the door panel into the trim and it didnt come through, and it wont come off easily

This is a great guide!
I think there should be a separate section in the forums for "how to" guides so they don't end up at the bottom of the forums! :D

Nice work!
