The drive bulb in the dash has never worked since we bought the car nearly a year ago, and i found out that if the tranny has a problem the light flashes.
Any infos would be greatly appreciated.
i had the same problem first time i changed my headunit over. but then a month or so later it fixed itself.
later on, i sprayed my instrument cluster and the D light went off, and has been like that ever since. I think it could be coz the bulb has blown. I mean it is the most commonly used bulb in ur dashboard.
if you couldn't be bothered forking $12 or something for the light bulb, take out or instrument cluster and swap it over with ur L bulb or something. The bulbs just twist out, its easy.

The manual for my TF says 'N' flashes if there's a problem with the transmission.
My D doesn't light up either, but it doesn't bother me after reading what the guys on here said about it.:D http://www.aussiemagna.com/forums/showthread.php?t=25643&highlight=swap
Did you do a search and find Nexus' tutorial on how to change/swap the bulbs if you're determined? http://www.aussiemagna.com/forums/showthread.php?t=25726&highlight=cluster
I was reading it the other day.
Yeh, as Nexus' tutorial showed, its quite a simple job. I had to change my 'D' bulb the other day, the price of the bulb was like $10. Cost price for the bulb was like $8, what a joke.

nah the neutral light flashes when the box has a fault (my own experience) 2 screws top of cluster surround pull it out and disconect what switches you have in the surround
4 screws/2 either side of cluster then pull out and disconect plug at top left of cluster then the thing will come right out
the row right down the centre is your shifter lights just twist it out and put in new globe (its attached to the stalk not seperate)
then do the opposite to put it all back. done easy as that.
hit the front with a wooden piller at a park (well nudge it anyhow). Thats what my bro did with his magna and now the "D" light works.

As provided by the guys my thread on changing "D" or actually any cluster lights. Once you did it you start having wild imagination about other colour bulbs lol EXCEPT for the "D" and all the auto indicator bulbs which requires a special bulb from mits. Is quite simple for a 3rd gen. No big issues, just don't scratch your cluster glass.

Hi guys,
My bulb was blown when I bought the car few weeks ago but since the bulb seats in the long black holder its hard to buy it and bulb is not replicable by its self you need to buy it together with the holder and that’s most likely available from Mitsubishi only. What I did is I went to one of the wreckers where you can walk in with your own tool and on old shapes Magna and Verada TR-TS are the same style bulbs so guys go sick and all I paid for 10 of them was a buck. About changing them is quit easy as well as getting the cluster out. Hopefully I gave some useful advice.
