Have an '01 TJ Solara Sedan.
The front air dam/spoiler has plastic inserts for where fog lamps should go. I've previously driven a car with low mount headlights, and liked the way they additionally lit-up the side and front of the road.
Do any 3rd party/OEM lights simply fit into this socket, with fitting alignment etc., when I remove the plastic inserts? If so, which? If not, how hard is it to fit a set and any recommendations?
Where is the on/off switch for these lights on a car that has them fitted? Wondering if mine has the switch, but just not the lights. I'd probably wire/relay them into the normal headlights anyways.

Apparently its an extra collar on the indicator stalk, so you'd either have to get a new indicator stalk from an upmarket model (vrx perhaps) or put your own custom switch somewhere. I'd just wire them into low beams.

AFAIK if they dont come with a factory switch, you have to wire them into your highbeams, thats legally though ;). Sif anyone would do that. I'm also curious about the switch as i was thinking of buying a pair, and also AFAIK foglights are a generic fit from TE to TJ and possible the veradas?

There is a lot of aftermarket foglights in the same kinda rectangle shape as the proper ones i seen at supercheap i wonder if any fit cause it would be a hell of a lot cheaper.

Hmmm thats true, i wonder . I'm sure you could measure them up and spot the difference, main problem would be mounting.

I've seen a few around that just buy round ones, and then fill the excess with the cover that comes out of the hole. In other words, they cut a hole in it to fit flush with the light, so then they can just screw it back in where it belongs to make it nice and neat.

Just remember that it's illegal to drive around in traffic with fog lights on, unless there is thick fog....
(and yes, all those WRXs and other cars with fog lights on shouldn't have them on...)
Cheers,
Martin.
