View Full Version : Door Lock Problem - Help required
Can anyone help. After recent repair I found that the remote locking on rear nearside door was not working (presumably not connected). Stupidly I set the childlock ON, and of course now I cannot open the door at all.
Other than return car to repairer, how can I fix this ??
Thanks

So you cant use the interior lock to unlock it and open the door from the outside??
Only thing I can think of is return it to the repairer as I dont think you are going to be able to get the door skin off.
No, because of the childlock !!

Doesnt the child lock only mean that the inside handle wont open the door. I thought that unloacking the door on the inside means you can open it from the outside.

the child lock only stops the car from being opened from the inside you can open it from the outside. just manually unlock the door then open from outside.

but he can unlock it manually from the back door inside the car and then lean out the window and grab the door handle to open the door from the outside of the car.
Nah - just get a bigger hammer ;)

Thisis confusing.
Can he not use the knob on the back door to unlock it and then use the outside handle to open it. IF the door is not opening at all the only thing to do is remove the back seat, remove the trim and access it this way.
Ok
Seems I have 2 choices. Since the childlock is on, the inside handle isn't operational. Since the central locking is working, I can't use the outside handle either. I'll have a go at removin gthe rear seat and then the door panel. Otherwise it's back to the dealer.
Thanks everyone.

OK everyone is saying the same thing I did!!!
You keep refering to the handle not working due to the child lock. We are not refering to the handle. Unlock the door using the locking knob (Not a key lock) on the inside of the rear door.
After you have unlocked it from the inside then open it from the outside.
If this isnt working somethin isnt hooked up correctly and you will have to go through the proceedure that mal described.

exactly reach over and unlock the door manually then open it from the outside! surely you can get into the back seat.

Guys, it is sounding here like the control rod inside the door has come off and he is unable to unlock it full stop thus the trim will have to come off one way or another

He hasnt said hat he has tried the lock only the handel...
So here is what EVERYONE is saying...
Do the thing below.... else you WIll have to remove the base of the rear seat and move the front one forward and then carefully remove the trim...
I just looked at the door and you CAN do it withour removing the base... but it would be easier to just remove the base.
Good luck.

Axe, Gasaxe comon be a little creative, jaws of life starting with the pillars. Always wanted to see a convertable magna and with no roof no need to open doors.
