i wouldn't have a clue, i paid the local guy to do mine ......much cheaper than mitz, but i would just try trail and error, ie: put some in, let it sit and check the level, but i would also check what kind of fluid it needs cos i've been told it needs a different fluid type. it might not be worth doing if the filter inside the auto-box is blocked or clogged some how though.

Definately sounds like tranny fluid levels, there will be a dipstick in your engine bay, yellow or orange i'd say which will show you tranny fluid level, the oil on the dipstick will be a reddy brown colour depending on it's age, if it's brown or black that'll be your engine oil dipstick so keep looking.

The spec for your ATF(tranny fluid) should be in your owners manual, I don't know it off the top of my head but you should be able to buy a top up bottle from any local auto shop if you want to have a try yourself while you wait to get it to a dealership. Just like engine oil, really, fill it to the dipstick mark, take it for a drive using all gears including reverse then check it again so see if it changed.

That is of course unless the fluid in your auto is the original mitsu fluid from 1989. Like mine was.

I don't have an auto myself so someone will have to check on this... aren't you suppose to check the auto fluid with the engine running? Unlike engine oil?

ATF AUTO MHP 5.8L 4cyl TN/TP
ATF AUTO MHP 7.5L TR/TS 4 cyl & V6
ATF AUTO MHP 7.8L TE/TF 4 cyl
ATF AUTO MHP 8.5L TE/TF/TH V6 3.0L & 3.5L

TJ Refer to dealer. 8.4L
TL Refer to dealer. No capacity stated.

I hope the above helps.

The above fluid (ATF AUTO MHP) is a Penrite oil. It meets Mitsubishi's requirements for the oil and is also for where MM SP, MM SP2 and DEXRON®-IID are specified. Thats all you need to know, as the semi-syn fluid meets the Mitsubishi SP2 spec.

The auto fluid from Penrite (and I also believe other manufactures) are available in like 4L, 20L, 60L or 205L. The problem being that the capacities are so different it would be easier to take it to a dealer, or a place that has RAA/RACV/NRMA etc accreditation. Don't take it to a place that hasn't got the accreditation, there must be a reason for it!

Unless of course you like buy 2 4L containers, you may have some spare. If you don't you can always may up to a 20 percent? mix of a good oil stabiliser like Morey's to stretch it further (refer to the label). And not to mention that stuff wouldn't be a bad idea to have in there anyways.
