ive got this very slow leak and cant seem to find where it comming in. ive just put new carpet in and noticed it a week after. so im wondering if its in a common place, so my main question is have any of the first gen members had water leaks and if so where was it and what caused it. and before anyone says anything i have sat in the car with the doors shut and windows up while a freind hosed down the car for 30 mins to see if i could get a glimse of where it might be coming from. and no i havent found it. the water seems to be collecting in the passenger front foot well. making the carpet squishy. possibly the leak is coming from the firewall , more to the left hand side, mide u thats only an educated guess. i will pull it all apart soon just wanted to hear of any other leak stories. so if uve had a leak big or small plz post up about it.
passenger side is the heater core... the water could possibly be coolant... or water if you put water in your radiator
failing that, the gromet for the ecu/engine loom is not seated properly or leaking. maybe leak around the windscreen?

yea its water not coolant im sure of that. i put 1/2 water 1/2 coolant in the cooling system. my first thought was the windscreen but a few days back i took out the dash while putting in sum speakers and thats when i noticed the leak , so that was the day i got a friend to hose the car while i was in there and nothing was leaking from the windscreen. but i never looked at the heater so ill have to check there. thanks for the suggestion every bit helps so keep em coming.plus ill look and the ecu gromet

Take the grill apart on front of the windscreen where the wiper blade arms are located there know to rust here under the plastic covers cause dirt and leaves tend to sit here..

keep the suggestions coming guys. aussie magna i took off those plastic covers and the metal one at the bottom of the windscreen. gave it a good clean out but i was lucky no rust there or visable leaks. ill have to pull the interior out tommorrow and get to the bottom of this bloody leak. but any more hints on where to look would be good. just dont want to miss or over look somthing. thanks for all and any help ive gotten so far:D

its got me stumped. all my door seals are in good nick and i clean them every sunday.and it's a very slow leak thats why i cant see where its coming from. no signs of it dripping from any where, theres no water around the seals or the dash.when it rains even hard u dont see anything. if anything it's under the dash , like where ur feet are.

Maybe it's running through the vents ?

i think i might have found it. this afternoon i washed the car and was about to wash off the cleaning agent and thought id get a friend to hose it off for me while i sat inside with my headin the passenger foot well. and when the water was sprayed on the windscreen it poured down behind the dash somwhere and onto the carpet in the passenger side. so its either the windscreen not sealing even though i had checked it before but might have missed it or its the plastic vents at the bottom of the windscreen . any way i have to pull the dash out tommorow cause i cant see where its flooding in from but i can see it dripping down the back of the dash onto the carpet so it looks like tommorow is gonna be a fun day:D

got the dash apart and found the vent at the base of the windscreen,on top of the fire wall
had rusted cause the water channel had sum dirt and dead leaves in there. thing is i wouldn't
have known untill i had it all apart cos there were no other signs of rust from the outside.except for the leak.i recon every first gen owner should take the plastic cover off the vent(top ot fire wall in the engine bay) and double check its not blocked up there so it dosent lead to rust like mine. also my tp hasnt had a hard life, i bought it off a old lady who was the only owner and it only has 105 000 on the clock.
the last pis shows in red where the vent is and the bule part is the water flow (where it comes in and where it goes)
mine has rust in there... it's the only rust i haven't cut out of my car and welded over. it's too difficult to get in there that's why... if i ignore it, it'll go away :D

I got to get around to cleaning mine on the TR I'm just remembering when a had a TM Magna some while back and just after a month from buying it had water everywere in the front on a rainy day took all that plastic off in the engine bay under the window founs alot of rotting leaves and dirt sitting there for so long caused it to rust very common on these models but I haven't heard them on the TR's yet.
